The concept often found in myths that women are dangerous is interesting. It's interesting because of the way our culture has tried to convince us that they are not.

Jane Goodall

JANE GOODALL has all the qualifications of a saint in my view. All of her life she has been driven by gentle curiosity and desire for good. She has been part of the framework of the world for me all my life.

Jane Goodall is an explorer-in-residence for the National Geographic Society, continuing her studies of chimpanzees in thier natural surroundings and traveling to promote worldwide habitat conservation.

Fourty years ago this month (July 2000), Jane Goodall arrived in the Gombe Stream Game Reserve with her mother. Officials there insisted that she bring someone with her so that she would not be studying wild chimpanzees alone in the wilderness. Four months later her mother returned to England, but Jane stayed on with National Geographic's sponsorship beginning in 1961. Her project is the longest study of any animal species in its natural surroundings.

My Singing Story

From the time I was 3 years old, I wanted to be a singer. I knew I was going to be a singer. I never had to ask myself, "what will I be when I grow up?" because I knew without thinking.
Well, when I was 14 I still had no voice. I had every other indication of musical talent, but no voice and no confidence.
When I was 16 I heard the Linda Ronstadt album, Hasten Down the Wind.
Now I have a voice. I found it because of her.

[Jerry Ryan as 7 of 9]

"Seven of Nine" from Star Trek: Voyager is brave about dealing with her totally unfamiliar life as a human (and she doesn't put up with anybody's crap). She says, "I will adapt." Photo and character bio at:Seven of Nine's Cargo Bay L-CARS Database

[Koko and Penny]

Koko
is a female lowland gorilla who knows sign language. Koko works and plays with Dr. Francine Patterson at: The Gorilla Foundation (there's a great gorilla sound at this site - see if you can find it!)
