On May 22, 2000, it had been a year without my Jim. I wasn`t sure how I was suppose to act or what I was supposed to do at the time. I decided that Jim`s family should all be together & remember Jim & the good times, so that`s what we did. A special friend, Janet & her daughter Kelly were also with me, they never had the chance to meet Jim, I met Janet thru the TCF chat room, you see Janet`s son Jesse was killed by a drunk driver he was 16, Janet & I would talk for hours getting to know one another, at the time the biggest thing we had in common was that both our son`s were in heaven. Prior to May 22, 2000, Janet & Kelly came from NC for their 1st visit to my home, on May 15th, 2000 I had no idea they would make the long trip again at the end of the week to be with me on this very difficult day, but they did, & have been close by from then on any time I needed them. As my family & friends began to gather at my house that day my emotions ran high. I didn`t know from one minute to the next when I might burst out in tears. Almost everyone brought food with them all of Jim`s favorites, we enjoyed our time together & of course we enjoyed the food. As the day went on & most of the people left, with just my close family & Janet & Kelly remaining, we hand wrote messages on helium balloons to Jim & relased them up into the beautiful sky each of us saying a silent prayer as we watched them drift out of sight, I like to think Jim snatched up our balloons & read them. With that done & the rest of the family leaving, we loaded into Janet`s van to go get tattoo`s in honor of Jim`s & Jesse`s Anniversary, after getting the tattoo`s we all headed home to relax & reflect on the day. A picture of Mine, Janet`s & Kelly`s tattoo`s is displayed below.
I know it don`t sound like a very tough day but let me assure you it was one of the hardest day`s of my life. |
