Carole Braig’s painted kimono was a hit during CSQ’s January "Show and Tell". The large double-sided piece is brightly colored on one side and black and white on the other. So many questions -- How did you do the painting? How did you manage to do two different sides? We found out the answers at our May, 2002 meeting. Carole has been painting quilt tops for four years. She’s been in several classes taught by Ann Johnston, author of a number of books on design, low-water immersion dyeing, and dye painting. Carole used slides to show the steps of thickened dye painting and the use of a variety of resists for creating design. She also showed quilts using dye painting and resists. In addition to being a CSQ member, Carole is a member of Art Quilt Alliance of St. Louis.

Here are pictures of some of the quilts she showed us.
