"Roots of Racism" by Susan Leslie Lumsden

This lecture was based on the organization and presentation of the "Roots of Racism" quilt exhibit currently touring the United States. This exhibit uses art quilts to help open people's minds to learn more about each other and to mend the rifts of racism. Susan is a self-taught artist in many areas of fabric manipulation. Her quilts have appeared in a number of exhibitions around the country, including the International Quilt Festival in Houston, TX; MOAK-2000, an invitational show in West Plains, MO; and Art Feast in Springfield, MO. Susan is currently the curator for "Roots of Racism: Ignorance and Fear", a traveling exhibition of art quilts.
