For our May meeting the challenge group presented their projects.

Creativity -- what nurtures and supports it? What can a quilter or fiber artist (or any artist) do to spark interest, change directions, and grow? A desire for a creative, thought-provoking quilt group led to the formation of the Challenge Group in February 1997. Most of the original participants were Circle in the Square Quilters members and had a number of years of working with traditional pattern and with non-traditional design. The group meets bi-monthly and issues challenges to one another. Projects are then displayed for comments and critique. The infusion of ideas and the reflection on works-in-progress and completed projects are valuable to the participants. Challenges have included They Don't Make Them Like That Anymore, Plastic, Too Precious To Be Used, Labyrinth, and Mona Lisa. Quilts and slides from these challenges and others were shown. Present members of the group include Diana Doerner, Joan Fick, Janis Friedman, Pat Owoc, and Jody Rosenblatt. Pat Owac and other group members presented the program. Some of the quilts theys shared with us are shown below.
