Heart-Strings, p2

The following days and weeks merge together. Time slowly drifting on. Every waking moment is spent thinking about him. Remembering every little word keeps her heart happy.
Every morning, she wakes with a smile on her face and a song in her heart. The unthinkable has happened. She fell in love on the internet! Was she crazy? This was just too good to be true. All these things keep running thru her mind.
"No more bad thoughts", she says to her empty room. She laughs and walks over to her computer.
She hits the on button and turns toward the kitchen for something to drink. Returning with her drink in one hand and a book in the other, she sits down and waits for her e-mail to finish loading.
While she waits, her mind plays back some conversations they have had in the past. A couple of times he has hinted to them meeting. Should she? She loved his words, they were from his heart. But meeting is taking a different road. Could she travel that road to the end?
Finally, her computer tells her she has mail. She clicks on her Inbox and up pops a very long letter from her on-line love. Quietly she reads, only her lips move. Filled with love and hope, she reads on. Slowly, the love and hope turns to sadness and sorrow. Her mind starts to whirl, her head starts to ache, her body shakes.
'No, no, no! This can't be!", she screams.
She stares at the words on the screen. He declares his love endlessly to her and in the very next breath tells her he is married. He asks her to call him and gave her his phone number. He wants her, but can't have her. Over and over again, he apologizes for the hurt he knows he has caused.
Not wanting to see the words any longer, she turns off her computer. She sits and thinks . She still loved him, with all her heart. He didn't have to tell me, she thought to herself. But he did.
As she sat at her desk, her eyes came upon a piece of paper with a phone number written on it. She doesn't remember writing it down, but here it is. His number. Picking it up, she fingers the paper for a moment and reaches for the phone.
