The Last Grade Crossing on Key Biscayne?? Actually, yes. The beautiful Crandon Gardens is the legacy of what was the Crandon Park Zoo back in the 60's and 70's. A narrow guage tour railroad circled the perimeter of the zoo. This short section of rail is all that remains; the old FEC Princeton station and ACL caboose which were rescued and brought to the present location of the Gold Coast RR once stood for many years just down this little road only yards from the beach of Key Biscayne.

The Last Crossing.
We are looking north across the 344 street grade crossing in south Florida City. In 1982, the rails, crossbucks and lights were still here, but all were gone when this photo was taken in November, 1988 (the Start Horn Ordinance sign was left behind, however). The end of the FEC line for many years is a hundred or so yards south of this crossing.
