H2K:HALLOWEEN 2000

Before we fade in we hear the sound of a radio,the stations being flipped through.We hear this as the start of the opening credits begin,from the moment when the DIMENSION FILMS logo appears to when we reach the title.

RADIO VOICE 1:Earlier today police found the mutilated body of Doctor Sam Loomis in a field just off Highway 14...

RADIO VOICE 2: Doctor Terence Wynn has now been missing for sixty-four days. Authorities have no leads.......

RADIO VOICE 3:Two teachers,a security guard,and four students were found brutally murdered in a private high school in Summer Glen, California today......

RADIO VOICE 4: Nurse Marion Chambers-Whittington was killed in her home yesterday.......

RADIO VOICE 5:The murders of Doctors Sam Loomis and Terence Wynn do not prove that Michael Myers is alive,and neither does the murder of Marion Chambers-Whittington.The rumors that Michael is alive are false.Michael Myers died in the explosion at the Haddonfield Police Department clear back in 1989.He has been dead for eleven years.He did not return in 1995,he did not go after that school teacher in 1998,and he had absolutely nothing to do with the disappearance and death of Jamie Lloyd.

The radio is turned off.The title appears.The music begins slowly,the music from HALLOWEEN 5,but once the title fades out the Halloween theme by John Carpenter plays.

FADE IN ON:

EXT. A CEMETARY-NIGHT-THE SIGN INFRONT OF THE CEMETARY READS: ETERNAL REST.

Titlecard: SMITH'S GROVE,ILLINOIS.150 MILES FROM HADDONFIELD.OCTOBER 30,2000.

INT. THE CEMETARY-NIGHT-THUNDER IS RUMBLING AND LIGHTNING IS FLASHING ACROSS THE SKY AS THE CARETAKER,JACK "FLAKES" KELLOGG WALKS THROUGH THE CEMETARY WITH A FLASHLIGHT,CHECKING THINGS OUT.

He whistles as he walks.As he walks it begins to rain.

After he's walked a few yards he reaches the small caretaker's building.

INT. THE BUILDING-FLAKES ENTERS,SHUTTING THE DOOR BEHIND HIM.

FLAKES:Looks to be a hell of a storm comin'.

Rain pours against the window.

EXT. THE CEMETARY-NIGHT-A BLACK VAN DRIVES UP AND PULLS INTO THE CEMETARY DRIVEWAY,GOING SLOW.THE RAIN IS COMING DOWN HARD NOW.

INT. THE CARETAKER'S BUILDING-FLAKES WATCHES THROUGH THE WINDOW AS THE VAN DRIVES INTO THE CEMETARY.

FLAKES:Who would come to a cemetary on a night like this?

EXT. THE VAN-NIGHT-IT PULLS UP BESIDE A TOMBSTONE.

The van's headlights shine on the tombstone,making it possible for us to read it.The name on the tombstone is: SAMUEL DONALD LOOMIS. 1919-1995.

The driver's door of the van opens and we see the driver's legs step out of the vehicle.The driver is obviously wearing a mechanic's uniform and work boots.And we all know who dresses like that.

INT. THE CARETAKER'S BUILDING-FLAKES IS WATCHING THROUGH THE WINDOW.

There's a flash of lightning and for a split second we can see Michael Myers standing out in the rain looking at Loomis's tombstone.

Flakes turns away from the window,shaking his head.

FLAKES : What a wacko.

Outside the van's lights shut off.

The phone in the building rings and Flakes walks over to it, answering it.

While Flakes talks on the phone we see Michael standing outside, looking at him through the window like he did to Ronnie Jones in H20.

FLAKES:Hello?(pause)Sheila,what do you want?(pause)Yes,I'm gonna close the gates and come home as soon as I can.(pause)Well,I can't right now.(pause)Somebody's here.(pause)How should I know?(pause)Yes,the idiot is standing out in the rain staring at a tombstone.(pause) I can't do that.(pause)Alright,if he's here any longer than another ten minutes I'll go out and ask him to leave.Okay?I love you.Bye.

Flakes hangs the phone up.

He goes over to a table that has a T.V. on it and a fold-out lawnchair infront of it.

Flakes sits in the lawnchair and turns the T.V. on,turning his back to the door.

On the T.V. is SCREAM.

Flakes sighs,turning the channel.

FLAKES:Garbage.Movies like that shouldn't be made.Who wants to see murder on film?

Flakes stops changing channels when he reaches MARRIED.....WITH CHILDREN.

FLAKES:Now this is entertainment.

Through a window in the door we can see Michael standing there,watching.

Flakes grabs a small case off the desk and opens it.

Inside are two steel Chinese relaxation balls.

Flakes takes the balls out,holding them in his right hand,and tries to roll them around like you're supposed to.

He doesn't do it right and drops them both on the floor.

FLAKES: Damn it.....

One of the balls rolls up against the door.

Flakes stands up,picking the ball closest to him up and walking toward the other one at the door.

The door slowly swings open,showing us the dark rainy night beyond.

Flakes picks the ball up and looks at the door.

FLAKES:Great.The latch must be broken.

Flakes puts the balls in his pocket and looks at the latch on the door,where that little retracting thing latches into the hole in the wall.

He turns the knob a couple times,and the latch retracts.

Michael steps behind him,just outside the doorway.

FLAKES: Seems to be alright.

Flakes pushes the latch a couple times,then stands up straight and shuts the door.

Michael is gone.

Flakes turns back to the T.V.

A commercial is on.

Flakes looks up at the wall clock.It is now 9:30.

The van is still parked where it was.

FLAKES:That's it.

EXT. THE CARETAKER'S BUILDING-NIGHT-FLAKES COMES OUT IN A RAIN SLICKER, HOLDING THE FLASHLIGHT,SHINING IT AROUND.THE RAIN IS STILL POURING DOWN.

Flakes walks up to the van and shines his light into the driver's window.The van is still running and the radio is on,playing "In A Gadda Davida" by Iron Butterfly.

The van is empty.

Flakes looks around.

FLAKES:Hello?Hello?

Flakes shines his light around.

He stops when he sees the empty hole of dirt where Loomis's tombstone used to be.

FLAKES: Freak dug up the doc's tombstone.

Flakes shines his light over,revealing the tombstone now leaning up against the van's front bumper. While Flakes is looking at the tombstone the van's headlights come on.

Flakes looks up at the van.

The driver's seat is still empty.

FLAKES: What is going on here?

Flakes walks up to the van,shining his light into the driver's window.That part is empty.

Flakes walks down the side of the van,shining his light into the sliding door's window.

We follow the beam of light as it shows us the empty back of the van.

Right at the edge of the window the light shines on Michael's mask,which is right up against the glass."In A Gadda Davida" is interrupted by a loud blast of Halloween music.We never hear any more of the song in the following sequence.

FLAKES:Oh,shit!

Flakes turns around but it's too late.

The sliding door slides open and Michael lunges out,grabbing Flakes by the waist and pulling him into the back of the van.

Flakes' flashlight drops to the ground.

The sliding door slides shut.

We hear Flakes screaming and fighting but don't see anything.

The van rocks back and forth.

Finally,we see Michael's hand raise a butcher knife up infront of the window and then slam it down into Flakes' body.

We hear Flakes groan and the knife penetrate his flesh.

FADE OUT.

FADE IN ON:

EXT. THE MYERS HOUSE-NIGHT-WE CAN SEE A LIGHT IS ON IN THE UPSTAIRS ROOM THAT WAS ONCE JUDITH'S.

Titlecard: HADDONFIELD,ILLINOIS.

INT. THE MYERS HOUSE-THE STAIRWAY-WE GO UP THE STAIRS,TOWARD A DOORWAY THROUGH WHICH LIGHT IS SHINING.

While we go up the stairs we flash back and forth between being in this new scene to being in the P.O.V. of Michael when he was six,the opening of HALLOWEEN 1.

We reach the doorway and look down at the floor,then see the shot from Part 1 where we lean down and pick up the clown mask.

We go through a room,flashing back and forth between our view and the view through the eye holes of the clown mask.

We walk toward a room and flash back and forth between seeing Tommy Doyle,30,sitting at a desk in this room looking at the night sky through a telescope and seeing Judith Myers sitting at a desk, topless,brushing her hair and humming.This is the same Tommy Doyle from Part 1 and Curse.

When we enter the room the flashbacks stop and we're back to just seeing what's happening.

Tommy is looking through a telescope,a radio on the desk beside him playing the blues song "Born Under A Bad Sign",an in-joke.The light is coming from a kerosene lantern.

TOMMY'S P.O.V-WE LOOK AT THE STARS IN THE SKY THROUGH THE TELESCOPE AS STORM CLOUDS GATHER AROUND,NOW AND THEN OBSCURING OUR VIEW.

After a few seconds Tommy looks up,dead serious.

Then he smiles.

TOMMY: It's not out.The Thorn isn't out!

Tommy stands up,turning the radio off.

TOMMY: I've gotta tell Kara.

Tommy blows the lantern out.

EXT. THE MYERS HOUSE-NIGHT-TOMMY CRAWLS OUT OF THE HOUSE THROUGH A BROKEN BASEMENT WINDOW.

Once he's through the window frame he stands up,pulling his jacket on as he walks away.

EXT. KARA'S HOUSE-NIGHT-WE LOOK AT THE HOUSE.ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE HOUSE, ON THE FRONT PORCH'S RAILING,IS A LIT JACK-O-LANTERN.KARA LIVES ON THE OUTSIDE OF TOWN,NOT IN TOWN BUT NOT QUITE IN THE COUNTRY.

INT. KARA'S KITCHEN-KARA STRODE,29,FROM CURSE,IS SITTING AT THE TABLE WITH STEVEN STRODE,5,THE BABY FROM CURSE,AND HER BOYFRIEND ADAM CARPENTER,31. ADAM IS CARVING THE JACK-O-LANTERN THAT GOES ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE PORCH.

STEVEN: How much longer?

ADAM: Not too long.

STEVEN: I had to go to bed a long time ago.

ADAM: I know.It'll be done soon.

KARA: He's almost done,Steven.

STEVEN: I hope so.It's after my bed time.

KARA: I'm your boss,Steven,and I say you can stay up as late as you want.

STEVEN: Cool.Can I stay up all night?

KARA: Nope.You can stay up until he's done carving the jack-o-lantern.

STEVEN: Oh.You can take your time,Adam.

ADAM: (laughs)Alright.

EXT. A HOUSE-NIGHT-ALL THE LIGHTS IN THE HOME ARE OFF.

Seth Craven,16,and Kyle Lucas,16,are standing in the yard toilet papering a tree.

SETH: What time did you say they'd get home?

KYLE: Why are you so worried tonight?

SETH: I don't wanna get caught.

KYLE: Why not?We get caught all the time.

SETH: I have a date with Shondra tomorrow and I don't want to be grounded.

KYLE: A date,huh?You gotten any nookie yet?

SETH: No.

KYLE: Poor guy.Goin' for the Hall of Fame or somethin'?

SETH: Shondra says she isn't ready yet.

KYLE: It's a lost cause if you ask me.

SETH: I didn't.

KYLE: You two have been going out for ten months now.If she isn't ready yet,she won't be ready 'til the next guy comes along.

SETH: If there is a next guy.

KYLE: What are you saying here?

SETH: I'm saying Shondra could be the one.My soul mate.The love of my life.

KYLE: Hopeless romantic.No wonder you're not gettin' any.You're too much of a wimp.

SETH: Screw you.She'll be ready soon.

KYLE: Wishful thinking.My grandpa always said that you can....

A car pulls into the driveway of the house.

KYLE: Oh,shit!

Kyle and Seth run away from the house,across the front yard.

EXT. KARA'S HOUSE-NIGHT-ADAM,KARA,AND STEVEN ARE LOOKING AT THE NEW JACK-O-LANTERN,LIT AND SITTING ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE PORCH.

ADAM: There you go.

STEVEN: Jack-o-lanterns are awesome.

KARA: You ready for bed,Steven?Remember,there's school tomorrow.

STEVEN: I guess.

KARA: Alright.Let's go inside.

STEVEN: Does school end early tomorrow?

KARA : Yep.

STEVEN: Yes!I love Halloween!

Steven walks into the house.

Kara and Adam walk after him.

Adam puts her arm around Kara's shoulder and she looks at him.

ADAM: It'll be alright.

KARA: I hope so.

EXT. THE DISCOUNT MART IN TOWN-NIGHT-A BUS PULLS UP INFRONT OF THE STORE AND STOPS.

The bus doors open and a group of people get off.

One of these people is Rex Hall,38.Rex is carrying two big suitcases and wearing a black cowboy hat.His boots are just like the boots Doctor Wynn wore as the Man In Black in Part 5.

INT. KARA'S HOUSE-STEVEN'S BEDROOM-STEVEN IS IN BED AND KARA IS STANDING IN THE DOORWAY.

KARA: Goodnight.

STEVEN: 'Night,mommy.

KARA: I love you.

STEVEN: Love you,too.

INT. THE KITCHEN-ADAM IS CLEANING UP THE NEWSPAPERS ON THE TABLE THAT ARE COVERED WITH PUMPKIN SEEDS AND ALL THE DISGUSTING MESS FROM INSIDE.

Kara walks in.

Adam puts the papers and pumpkin stuff into the trash can.

KARA: I could've done that.

ADAM: How are you feelin'?

KARA: The same as I always feel on Halloween Eve and Halloween.Scared,jumpy,nervous,sick to my stomach.Afraid to go to sleep.Do you have any idea what it's like to be a psychiatrist that's more screwed up than half her patients?

ADAM: Can't say that I do.I'm just a lowly school bus driver.Bus number 13,that's me.

KARA: Lucky number 13.

ADAM: Guess what my nickname at work is?

KARA: Jason?

ADAM: No,my co-workers aren't that sharp.They call me Friday.

KARA: That's good,too,I guess.

ADAM: Have you talked to Tommy yet tonight?

KARA: No.He probably won't come over until the morning now.

ADAM: Have you thought any more about tomorrow night?

KARA: Yeah.

ADAM: And?

KARA: I don't think so.

ADAM: Come on.You said yourself you're more screwed up than half your patients.And why is that?

KARA: Maybe because half my patients aren't taking care of a little kid that a blood crazed serial killer has targeted as his number one murder priority.

ADAM: No.It's because you don't take any steps to over come your fear of this blood crazed serial killer that has targeted your adopted son.He's not gonna come every year.

KARA: That's obvious,Adam.He hasn't come since '95.

ADAM: Have you ever considered the possibility that he's dead?

KARA: No.He's not dead.

ADAM: How do you know?

KARA: He's not the kind of person that's just gonna drop dead.He won't die until he's stopped.

ADAM: And how do you do that?From what I understand he's been shot just under fifty times,set on fire, knocked down a well,and got the shit beat out of him with a lead pipe.What's left?

KARA: He's a normal human,basically.He can be stopped.His rage just makes it harder than usual.

ADAM: Why don't you leave this town?

KARA: This town is as good as any.No matter where we go he'll find us.There's really no point.

ADAM: But if you moved it'd take him longer to find you.

KARA: No.He'd find us when he wanted to find us.He'd just start a little early to find out where we went.Kill a couple people close to us,gather information,then find us.I can't leave this place anyway,with Danny in the state hospital.

ADAM: I have to get home.But how about this?If Tommy comes and tells you that the Thorn isn't out again this year,will you go to Odie's with me?

KARA: (sighs)Fine.If the Thorn isn't out,I'll go with you tomorrow.

ADAM: (smiles)Good.I'll see you tomorrow.

Adam kisses Kara.

EXT. TOMMY'S HOUSE-NIGHT-TOMMY WALKS UP ACROSS THE FRONT YARD.

He goes onto the front porch and enters his home through the front door.

INT. THE HOUSE-THE LIVINGROOM-TOMMY ENTERS,TURNING THE LIGHT ON.

He crosses the room,which is very clean.So clean that it seems Tommy doesn't even stay here.The only sign of use is the fact that the T.V. is on 24 hours a day.Atleast he doesn't have newspaper clippings all over the place anymore.

Tommy reaches a door on the wall and enters.This room is his study.

INT. TOMMY'S STUDY-THIS IS WHERE ALL THE CLIPPINGS WENT.ALL OVER THE WALL AND CEILING ARE CLIPPINGS ABOUT OR RELATED TO MICHAEL MYERS, DOCTOR LOOMIS,LAURIE STRODE,JAMIE LLOYD,LINDSEY WALLACE,SHERIFF BRACKETT,SHERIFF MEEKER,AND TOMMY HIMSELF.

At the back of the room is a library-like rack of books,a little away from the wall so you can get to both sides.The books on this rack are all about serial killers,Druid rituals,psychology, and a few books about Michael.

As Tommy walks by a table we see that there's a book laying on it with a bookmark in the middle.We zoom to the cover of this book to see that it is: SECRETS OF THE BOY.MICHAEL MYERS REVEALED. WRITTEN BY REX HALL.

Tommy walks to a desk and grabs a set of keys off of it.

He turns around and walks out of the room.

EXT. TOMMY'S HOUSE-NIGHT-THE GARAGE DOOR OPENS AND TOMMY DRIVES HIS RED JEEP FROM CURSE OUT AND DOWN ONTO THE ROAD.

INT. KARA'S HOUSE-HER UPSTAIRS BEDROOM-NIGHT-KARA IS LAYING IN BED,LIGHTS OFF, EYES OPEN.SHE'S OBVIOUSLY THINKING ABOUT SOMETHING.

Offscreen we hear a car door slam but Kara doesn't take notice.

Kara just lays in silence,staring up at the camera.

Then,we hear a loud creaking sound coming from downstairs.

Kara looks toward her door just in time to hear a loud boom from downstairs.

KARA: What the hell?

Kara sits up in bed and grabs a wooden club that she has strapped to the head of the bed. It's basically like a yardstick without numbers.

Kara gets out of bed,in her night clothes.(Not a nightgown,probably a white tanktop and light blue boxer shorts.)

We hear another sound from downstairs,a slamming sound this time.

KARA: Shit.

She crosses her room,going to her door.

INT. THE HALLWAY-KARA'S DOOR OPENS AND SHE ENTERS THE HALL.

She walks down the hall,toward the stairs.

Halfway down the hall is the partially open door to Steven's room.

She stops at the door and looks in.

Steven is sleeping peacefully in his bed.

Satisfied that Steven is alright Kara continues down the hall toward the stairs.

She steps onto the top step and stops.

Just to the left of the bottom step is the doorway to the kitchen.The kitchen light was left on and thanks to this light we think we see a man's shadow pass quickly across the doorway.

This sight affects Kara deeply.She takes a deep breath and flattens herself against the wall, closing her eyes,starting to shake in fear.

Her breathing becomes labored,full of gaps,like she's on the verge of crying.

After a few seconds she opens her eyes again and starts down the stairs.

When she's halfway down there's a weird sound from the kitchen like a pop can opening.

Kara doesn't stop,though,until she reaches the bottom step.

She holds her club ready.

KARA: Hello?Adam?

There's no answer.Kara steps down to the floor.

KARA: Tommy?

There's silence for a few seconds.

Kara looks around.

Suddenly Tommy steps into the kitchen doorway.

Kara gasps,spinning around and slamming the club against the side of his head before she realizes who it is.

Tommy falls to the floor,groaning.

TOMMY: Oooohhhh....shit.

Kara drops her club and kneels down beside him.

KARA: Oh,God,Tommy,I'm so sorry.

INT. THE KITCHEN-SOON-TOMMY AND KARA ARE SITTING AT THE TABLE.TOMMY HAS A POP AND AN OPEN BOTTLE OF TYLENOL INFRONT OF HIM.

KARA: I'm so sorry.Are you okay?

TOMMY: Other than the concussion and the skull fracture,sure,I'm fine.

KARA: What are you doing here?

TOMMY: I came to talk to you.Why did you hit me?

KARA: You scared me.Why did you step into the doorway so quick?

TOMMY:If I'd have known you were gonna try to get a grand slam with my cranium I wouldn't have.

Tommy pours about five Tylenol into his hand and pops them into his mouth,following them up with a swig of pop.

KARA: Are you sure you should take so much of them?

TOMMY: I'm in pain.

KARA: I realize that,but you've been eatin' Tylenol like popcorn for the last five minutes.You might overdose.

TOMMY: Can you overdose on Tylenol?

KARA: I would assume so.

Tommy thinks about this for a second,then puts the lid on the Tylenol bottle and slides it away from him so he won't be tempted to take more.

TOMMY: Well,I'll live.I guess that's as good as it gets.

KARA: So,what did you want to talk about?

TOMMY: The Thorn.

KARA: Is it out?

TOMMY: No.

KARA: Thank God.I've been worrying about that all day.

TOMMY: There's nothing to worry about.Remember,I'm big bad ass Tommy Doyle that beat old Mike down with a lead pipe.I'll protect ya.

KARA: Yeah,right.I just kicked your ass.

TOMMY: So,do you want me to spend the night tomorrow?Maybe sleep in your bed with you?

KARA: No.I have plans.

TOMMY: Plans?

KARA: Yes,plans.Since the Thorn isn't out I'm gonna go to supper with Adam at a place called Odie's in Lichtfield.

TOMMY: Adam?

KARA: Adam.Remember,your replacement?

TOMMY: Ah,yes.A Dumb Ass Man.

KARA: What do you mean by that?

TOMMY: Adam.A-D-A-M.A Dumb Ass Man.You can't go out tomorrow.

KARA: Why not?The Thorn isn't out.

TOMMY: Kara,you know I've started to doubt my theory.The Thorn wasn't out in '89,but Michael was here. That's why Wynn came and got him.More and more I think that it was just pure coincidence or the influence of Wynn that Michael came on years when the Thorn was out.Michael was born in 1957.The Thorn was out,yes.He killed Judith in 1963.The Thorn was out.Coincidence?Maybe. He escaped in 1978.The Thorn was out.What if Wynn helped him escape?He escaped during transfer from Ridgemont to Smith's Grove in 1988.The Thorn was out,but Wynn was the one who ordered the transfer.He came in 1989,the Thorn wasn't out,Wynn came and took him home because in Wynn's mind he was breaking the rules,I suppose.He came back in '95.The Thorn was out.That could have been planned by Wynn.

KARA: Wynn is dead now,Tommy.

TOMMY: Killed by Michael.With Wynn dead,Michael could conceivably return at anytime he wants.

KARA: Why weren't you at Steven's birthday party yesterday?

TOMMY: Don't change the subject.

KARA: Tommy,you are his daddy even if we are split up.You should have been there.

TOMMY: I was busy.

KARA: Busy?Doing what?Obsessing over Michael some more?That's why we broke up,Tommy.All you think about is Michael.We can't live our lives in fear.That's why I'm going out tomorrow.

TOMMY: I'm begging you not to.

KARA: I'm going.

They sit in silence for a few seconds.

TOMMY: I can't help it,you know.I didn't choose to have my mind fucked up by that son of a bitch.(beat) Have you heard anything about Danny?

KARA: Yeah,actually.His doctor said that he might be able to be released in a few months.Possibly by Christmas.

TOMMY: I hope so.I miss that little guy.(long pause,both of them are very uncomfortable)Well...

KARA: Well.

TOMMY:I guess I should be going.I have to get to the store before it closes for Halloween.

KARA: Alright.

Tommy stands up,holding his pop.

TOMMY: See ya.

KARA: Bye.

Tommy turns and walks out of the room.

Kara looks down at the table,thinking.Cut to-

EXT. A GAS STATION/DINER-NIGHT-A SIGN ON THE BUILDING READS: LARRY'S PLACE.

Titlecard:WILLARD,ILLINOIS.15 MILES FROM HADDONFIELD.

INT. THE GAS STATION-THE STORE/GAS SECTION-THE ONLY PERSON IN THE BUILDING IS THE CASHIER,AMBER SMITH,23.SHE IS LOOKING THROUGH HER PURSE,WHICH IS ON THE COUNTERTOP.

Amber looks up at the wall clock.It is now midnight.

AMBER: (sighs)Finally,I can close this hellhole up.

She walks over to the door and grabs the OPEN/CLOSED sign,turning it over from OPEN to CLOSED. Then she locks it.

EXT. THE GAS STATION-NIGHT-THE BLACK VAN MICHAEL WAS DRIVING EARLIER PULLS INTO A PARKING SPOT.AMBER'S RUSTY OLD RED PICKUP IS PARKED NEARBY.

INT. THE GAS STATION-AMBER WALKS OUT TO THE REGISTER AND PULLS A PACK OF CIGARETTES DOWN FROM THE CIGARETTE RACK.

She takes the pack of cigarettes and unwrap the plastic.

We watch her pull out a cigarette,as well as a Zippo lighter from her pocket to light it with. The audience gets accustomed to the quietness,thinking that we'll be watching her light her cigarette for some reason,when's there's a loud bang on the door and she gasps,turning toward it.

A man,Alix Cobain,is standing at the door banging on it.

ALIX: Hello?Amber,let me in.

Amber sighs,walking to the door.

She unlocks it,then opens it slightly.

AMBER: We're closed,Alix.

ALIX: Just let me in,Amber.I'm only three minutes late.I just want to buy some cigarettes.

AMBER: Go to Walker's Grocery.

ALIX: They close at ten.

AMBER: Why?

ALIX: How the hell should I know?I don't run the place.

AMBER: I thought they were open 24 hours.

ALIX: That's only during the summer.Come on,let me in.

AMBER: (beat)Alright,come in.

Amber opens the door wide,letting Alix in.

ALIX: Thank you.I'm about to have a freakin' nicotine fit.

Alix and Amber turn away from the door and walk over to the counter.

As the door slowly swings shut Michael steps into view on the other side of it.

Alix and Amber stand on opposite sides of the counter.

AMBER: What kind?

ALIX: Camel Reds.

Amber reaches to the rack and pulls down his pack.

Alix hands her a five.

ALIX: You know,you really should lighten up on that whole "closing time,nobody allowed" rule.I mean, what harm is it?It's just more money for the day.

Amber hands Alix his change.

AMBER: If you're so keen on giving this place money are you sure you only want one pack?

ALIX: Sorry,that five's all I have.I'll be back tomorrow afternoon,though.I get paid tomorrow.

AMBER: Lucky you.See ya.

ALIX: Bye,Amber.

Alix turns around and walks out of the gas station.

Amber picks her unlit cigarette up off the counter and finally gets to light it.

Then she turns and walks into the diner section.

Alix is walking away from the door,outside.The door is swinging shut very slowly.

He walks offscreen.By the time he disappears the door is almost shut.

JUST before it shuts Michael's burn scarred hand catches it by the edge,Michael offscreen.

INT. THE DINER SECTION-AMBER ENTERS,TURNING THE LIGHT ON AND LOOKING AROUND.WE SEE THAT ALONG ONE WALL IS A HUGE COLLECTION OF BASEBALL CAPS WITH TRUCKING COMPANY NAMES ON THEM.

EXT. THE GAS STATION-NIGHT-MICHAEL PUSHES THE DOOR OPEN AND ENTERS.

Alix is about ten yards away from the door but he stops and turns around,sensing something.

ALIX: What the hell?

The door is standing wide open now and isn't closing.

ALIX: Damn door's broken.

Alix turns around and heads back toward the gas station.

INT. THE GAS STATION-THE DINER AREA-AMBER IS WALKING,LOOKING IN THE BOOTHS FOR LOST ITEMS.

Behind her we see Michael standing in the diner area's doorway,watching her.

At one of the booths Amber finds a black DAILY EXPRESS TRUCKING COMPANY hat.

AMBER: Ah-ha.A new hat for the collection.

Amber picks the hat up and carries it over to the wall.

She stands there,looking for an empty hook to hang the hat on.

She finds one.

AMBER: Here we go.

She hangs the hat on the hook and just as she does the lights in the diner area go out.

AMBER: Shit.

Amber turns around.

AMBER: Alix,is that you?What are you doing?

She walks toward the diner area doorway.

AMBER: We're closed,Alix.

She stops walking,unnerved by the stillness in the station.

In the darkness we see Michael's white mask illuminated by the little moonlight there is shining through the windows as he walks slowly past her,behind her,looking at her.

We switch to a shot beside Amber so we can't see Michael anymore.

There's a creaking sound from behind her and she turns quickly.

The swinging Old West saloon-style doors to the kitchen are slowly and noisely swinging shut.

AMBER: Hello?Alix?

She walks toward the doors very slow,breathing shallowly.

She approaches them cautiously,and finally reaches them.

She reaches toward them slowly.

Just before her hand can push the doors open Alix comes up quickly to her left,grabbing her shoulder.

She jumps away from him,screaming.

ALIX: It's just me!It's just me!

AMBER: Damn it,Alix,what the hell are you doing?

ALIX: Your door won't shut.It's jammed or something.

AMBER: Great.That's just what I need.

ALIX: Come on,I'll show ya.

They walk out of the dining area.

We pull back into the kitchen to see that Michael is standing just on the other side of the doors.

INT. THE STORE AREA-AMBER AND ALIX ENTER.

AMBER: What did you do to it?

ALIX: Nothing.I was walking away,I turned around,and the door was wide open.

AMBER: But I watched it start to swing shut.

ALIX: You did?

AMBER: Yeah.The door was shutting when I was walking out of the room.

ALIX: Then how'd it get open?

AMBER: How should I know?

Amber and Alix walk up to the door,which is still wide open.

AMBER: Son of a bitch.If this door is broken I'll get my ass kicked.

Alix tries to pull the door shut,straining with all his might.

The door moves slightly,but not much.

Alix stands back from it.

ALIX: It's jammed pretty tight.

He looks over at the door's edge,where it's up against the wall.

ALIX: Wait a minute.

He walks to the crack between the door and the wall and pulls something out of it.

The door begins to swing shut.

The thing that Alix pulled out of the crack is the bloody butcher knife Michael used to kill Flakes with at the beginning.

Alix and Amber stare at the knife.

ALIX: Holy shit.

AMBER: Oh my God.Is that....?

ALIX: Blood.

Alix and Amber look at eachother.

AMBER: Are you doing something here?A joke?

ALIX: I'm not doin' shit.Somebody's in here.

AMBER: I'm callin' the cops.

ALIX: Should I look around?

AMBER: Sure,if you're crazy.

Amber goes back behind the counter and grabs the phone.

As she does she notices that her purse is no longer on the counter.

AMBER: Shit.

ALIX: What?

AMBER: My purse is gone.

ALIX: Who gives a shit?Call the cops!

Amber dials 9-1-1.

Alix opens the door and steps outside.

Amber is on the phone,looking into the pitch dark store area,very nervous.

The phone rings.

AMBER: Come on,come on...

EXT. THE GAS STATION-NIGHT-ALIX IS LOOKING AROUND.

The black van and Amber's red pickup are the only vehicles in the parking lot.

The gas station door fully shuts,making Alix turn around,jumping.

When he sees it was just the door he smiles.

ALIX: Damn.

We look at Alix's face and over his shoulder we can see Michael approaching in the background.

INT. THE GAS STATION-AMBER HANGS THE PHONE UP.

AMBER: God,I hope they hurry.They said....

Amber turns around,not knowing Alix went outside.

She sees that she's alone in the store room.

AMBER: Alix?

Outside a vehicle suddenly roars to life.

Amber looks out the window.

Her red pickup drives by quickly.

AMBER: Son of a bitch!My truck!

EXT. THE GAS STATION-NIGHT-AMBER RUSHES OUT,PISSED.

Her pickup is disappearing down the road.

AMBER: Fuck!

She looks toward the gas pumps and sees Alix standing up against one.He's on the opposite side of the pumps from us,so we can only see his back.

AMBER: Alix!

Amber goes over to the pumps.

AMBER: Whoever it was just stole my pickup.

Alix doesn't answer,doesn't turn around.

AMBER: Alix?

She walks around,looking at Alix.

Alix is dead,his throat slit,Amber's purse wrapped around his left wrist,the word NEPHEW carved into his forehead.He is held up to the gas pump with the gas hose.

Amber screams,and we zoom into a Close Up of her face,much like the scene in SCREAM 2 when Gale Weathers found Randy Meeks' body.Cut to:

EXT. A STORE IN HADDONFIELD-NIGHT-A SIGN IN THE WINDOW READS:

WE WILL CLOSE AT 12:30 A.M. OCTOBER 31ST.WE WILL OPEN AT 9:00 A.M. NOVEMBER 1ST.THIS IS DUE TO THE HALLOWEEN CURFEW LAW MADE BY SHERIFF DAVID ZIMMERMAN.

Tommy comes out of the store carrying groceries.

EXT. THE PICKUP-NIGHT-LATER-IT DRIVES QUICKLY PAST A METAL SIGN BY THE ROAD THAT READS: WELCOME TO HADDONFIELD. HOME OF THE HUSKERS.

FADE OUT as we watch the truck disappear down the road.

In the darkness we hear children saying a rhyme,a rhyme from the first film.

CHILDREN:(O.S.,V.O.)Black cats and goblins and broomsticks and ghosts Covens of witches and all of their hosts You may think they'd scare me,you're probably right Black cats and goblins on Halloween night.Trick or treat!!!
