| Pedagogy Musicians are always in a state of learning. From that first beginner moment of placing a reed on a clarinet to the experienced musician's initial breath of their solo debut there is always a structural process of correctness. In those moments of focused discipline there is this intrinsic surge of emotion, of excitement, that can and should say here's where the fun begins. It is my goal to bring to every student of music a streamlined structural process that allows the creativity of each moment to flow with ease and enjoyment. Practice Those that practice 3 to 6 hours a day are doing it because they enjoy it, because they are making progress. That enjoyed progress is because of a pattern that works every time. It takes discipline to find that correct process and an understanding to avoid those ways that slow you down. Instruments & Equipment Beginner students are always in a state of discovery and many discover that the instrument they start on may not be what they want to do the next year or even the next month. Purchasing high end, prefessional equipment at first is unnecessary. However, a poorly maintained or a no-name-brand instrument can greatly hinder the ease of learning. It is then imperative to teach the parent and student about buying, renting, and maintaining proper equipment for there to be successful results. |
