Uzamaki Naruto is the main character in the series. He is naturally impetuous and tends to rush into combat without thinking, and is very hyperactive. However, he is capable of devising some quite clever Jutsus when necessary. Naruto is the sealed nine-tails demon fox, and when he is under great stress or when his friends are severely threatened it starts to become unsealed, don't miss this, it's cool! He dreams of being acknowledged by everyone in the Leaf village. He is an outcast (nothing like being a demon to ruin your reputation). He has a close bond with Iruka, initially hates Sasuke (he still hates him, but respects him too) and has a crush on Sakura. Who hates him. Naruto also likes Ramen. A lot. In fact, Kakashi once thought that Ramen and being Hokage were the only things he thinks about.
As told in the anime, Uchicha Sasuke in his childhood remembered when he saw his parents dead right in front of his eyes. This was due to his brother, Uchiha, Itachi. He's always admired his brothers strength, and now since he seen that they've been killed by his brother, he wants to get revenge. Sasuke is part of Hatake, Kakashi's team #7. Sasuke possess an advanced bloodline attribute, The Sharingan. His inspiration to become a better shinobi is his brother. He remembers a quote that his brother once told him..."Foolish brother, if you want to kill me...Then hate, spite...and survive pathetically, Run and run... And cling desperately to life."
Haruno Sakura is also part of Kakashi's Team #7. It was told in the anime that she has a big forhead, but personally i've never thought of it. In her childhood, her and Ino were the best of friends until they both liked Uchiha, Sasuke. Ino encouraged her to show her forhead since hiding it would make people laugh at her more and more. They then became rivals fighting over Sasuke. It is said that Sakura has very good chakra control and can surpass both Sasuke and Naruto in chakra control.
Kakashi is said to be a genious amongst the Jounins in the Konoha Villiage (hidden leaf village). Although he isn't a Uchiha, he still has a sharingan in his left eye. No one knows and it is not said how he got a hold on one, but it is known that he got it with surgery, thus having the scar. He is known as "The copy Ninja" because of his sharingan. He has copied over 1000 jutsu's with it. He also demonstrated a very powerful jutsu that he did which was his very own, Chidori. Kakashi is indeed a great shinobi, Getting chuunin at the age of 6.
