Merlins Story:

Merlin was also adopted from our locale Humane Society on July 3rd ,2001 after I lost
Melanie, Teddie Bear and Hope (read their story) to tragic circumstances.
Merlin was a stray and was turned in with his brother in the beginning of July. After the ordeal with Hope I was not ready for another dog, but little Merlin stole my heart right away. He was just few month old and his coat coloration looked like Teddie Bears. Merlins brother was car sick when they enter the Humane Society and therefore not as active as Merlin. When I got home I told everyone in my family about Merlin how much he reminded me of Ted and how gorgeous he was. The next day we took big girl Belle for a dog to dog interduction (poor Belle; she has gone through so many of them by now). Belle took to Merlin right away. Belle is a dominate female and will not tolerate puppy foolishness. Merlin showed hardly any interest in Belle, he wanted my daughter Samantha and if all possible sit on her lap the whole time. He was in love with my children right away; and as you can guess by now, he was a winner. I adopted Merlin and so far he is good shape, with all the past problems I had I had Merlins blood work done, x-rays and everything checked out fine. He was treated for a mild case of Demo (Mites) and we fought of his yucky kennel cough.  Lets hope this monster is mine to keep.
As of September 2001- Merlin weighs with at 7 month 69lbs.

UPDATES: March18th, 2002
Merlin now weighs 89 lbs. and we nick name him "Dork".
Merlin has slight anxiety attacks and destroyed our couch; chewed up our bed frame and not to mention lots of other stuff. I guess thats where the magic word Crate training really fits!  Merlin is very clumsy and he shows a lot of traits of the Boxer breed. Merlin seems to think he is defiantly a human and not a four legged dog. If we all sit in the living room to watch TV, he has to be on top of you and his favorite show of course is Home Funniest Videos he will get up and stare at the TV screen if they show ducks!
Merlin leaps like a cat - he jumps on everything and over everything. This year he finally learned to swim and we cant get him out of the water. Guess? Yup, you got it; his favorite is to follow ducks in the pond. They laugh at him while he tries to catch up; so far he has a long way to go. Merlins favorite activities are fetch & retrieve, hiking (mom on trail) Merlin off trail of course, horses, swimming, playing with Belle and cuddling. He is one big baby, but he doesnt seem to think so.
