Where did Melanie come from

Melanie came from a Backyard Breeder (I learned my lesson) who did not care if his breeding was going to effect the puppies health or temperament. He didnt care if he was going to break new moms and dads heart with his action either! His only concern  was the fact that the money was / would be collected.Sure you wonder Why did you buy from a
Backyard Breeder?
You right, we learned our lesson with a life time memory of Melanies sad ordeal!
I interviewed this person and asked a lot of questions. He had all the answers; he was a very slick smart person. He even showed me his Web Site "www.working-bullmastiff.com" (which is no longer in existance) and a Magazine where his dogs where shown. If you live in San Jose, Sunnyvale California do not answer any newspaper adds regarding Working Bull Mastiffs the  Magazine he was showing to me had the title  Working Bull Mastiffs the pig hunters. The breeder Jason runs the business with his uncle who will even produce paperwork (ABC Working Bull Mastiff) note not AKC it is ABC!His so-called uncles girl friend is in reality his girl friend which has been issuing fake immunizations records for all the dogs.I have done a lot of research on Jason (if in need for more info on Jason, please contact me) and it is unbelievable that he has not been incarcerated for all the wrong doing he has done (quite a rap sheet).

Melanies illness
My
Belle picked Melanie from a litter of 9 puppies, and off we went to the store to by all the
goodies a new puppy needs. In the next few weeks Melanie came down with Kennel Cough, which is not very common for a pup unless it has been exposed to the virus by another dogs!
Of course she went immediately to the vet and antibiotics where issued.
When she was better she showed signs of Bladder problems, and of course another trip to the vet confirmed.Between the next 3 month Melanie was diagnosed with allergies, hives, eye infections,
ear infections, food allergies, bladder problems and thyroid problems.
Thinking back, none of the vet assistance really knew my name except Oh, no it is Melanies mom again. One Saturday afternoon Mel was limping, and of course I know that mend another trip to the vet.Silly me, I thought she might have gotten hurt because Belle and her played ruff at times.I was not prepared to hear what I was just about to be told!Melanie was diagnosed for a
loose Patella!I thought to my self well, this is not the best thing to hear, but it could be worse!Mel was scheduled for her  surgery 2 days later, which required also x-rays of her hip joints. In the meantime I overheard a conversation between two parties (at my place of work) which involved a Backyard Breeder whose animals have been confiscated / seized numerous times and he had a rap sheet due to  his line of breeding. It was also mentioned that he was just recently busted stealing someones Web Site and falsely advertised his line of dogs in  it.At this time I really started to worry, since it sure sounded like My Breeder. It was also mentioned that ALL his dogs where either as sweet as sugar BUT ill/inbreed. or the healthy ones where VERY aggressive. When I butted into the conversation my fear was confirmed. The officer who handled this case informed me to have Melanies Thyroid tested, since All of this guys dogs had  a Thyroid problem.Melanie was tested (she was positive for low thyroids) and underwent her  surgery. Everything went like planned except the x-rays revealed that Melanie had total Hip Dysplasia, her joints where already dislocating from the sockets! My option at this point was to either euthanize Melanie or try to have a Hip reconstruction done. Since she was still a puppy (6 month old) she was not qualified for a replacement! It was a very hard decision I had to make was Im going to give up on her and euthanize her or was Im going to try the surgery?Well, decision was made, after getting all the information that I needed. Surgery it shall be! (Very costly but if her hips would accept the bone stripes removed from her outer side of the hips, she would have years to live).

Recovery
Melanie looked like Frankenstein when I picked her after her surgery.I cried, her tiny body was full off silver stables (I forgot how many, but it was at least 50 or more) she had 4 long scares and she was black and blue.Recovery was the worst, she was not able to walk, she was on so many heavy duty pain killers that we needed a shelf build (We called it Melons RX) her recovery was slow and very painful, the staples ripped out of her skin each time she squatted down to go potty. We needed to rush back to the vet so he can clean it and re-staple it.A part of the healing process was for the blood serum to leak from her scar, so we needed to clean of the blood all the time, but not only was it sad to look at - ants smelled her trail and attacked her inside the house while she was resting twice.I had to spray all the windows inside and outside to keep ants away, AND flies. Needless to say what flies will do!!!!
It was a nightmare; Melanie lost more and more muscle tissue in her legs and she started to loose her balance a lot more. It got so bad where she could no longer keep her balance at all and collapsed all together.
When it was time for her recheck the x-rays revealed the worst; the surgery did not go as planned and I had to send Melanie to the Rainbow Bridge right there and than.
Melanie was loved and always will be, but what kind of live did she have?Half of her live was surgeries and recovery, for what?
DO NOT support Backyard Breeders, seek a pup/dog from your local Shelter / Rescue Organization.I have no problems with Breeders dont get me wrong but if you need to purchase from a Breeder chooses a professional one who cares about his lines of breed and not the money!
                                      Amen!!!!!
