| 21. Holy Acts (cont'd) - Weddings: ceremony of Holy Matrimony between one man and woman. Taking of solemn and sacred vows of faithfulness to each other. {St. Mark 10:6-9} - Holy Communion: is an act of presenting the holy emblems to a congregation which has purged itself of any sin. The emblems are Holy Bread and Wine which resemble Christ broken body and spilled blood. {I Cor. 11:23-34} - discipline of an erring member: is to be used in rare cases as a deterrent for a member to continue in sin. The process benefits two fold. First, it is for a soul to consider their serious error and to make amends in their walk of life to then have a restored fellowship with God, and then also, for the church to be exhorted about sin. {Rom. 6:1-2} 22. Sins Since all unrighteousness is sin {I John 5:17}, then any slight misbehavior unto the worst deeds a person commits all fall short of the holiness of God. Hence, there are three varying degrees of sin. They are: -daily shortcomings: which are personal transgression or faults a person commits. These are things that irritate a spouse, relatives, or other people. They are also times when good is purposely omitted to be done. We should die daily [confess] and seek forgiveness from God. {James 4:17; I Cor. 5:31} -willful grievances: are sins that a person commits without regard to their soul welfare. The works of the flesh are listed as evil sins. These can be forgiven after a full confession and a broken and contrite spirit comes forth. {Gal 5:19-21} -unforgivable sin: which is blaspheme of the Holy Spirit. This comes from a proud heart of someone who thinks they are better than God, or rejects His supreme authority. This only comes after soul has received the Holy Spirit into their heart then forsakes their salvation completely, thus forfeiting their eternal life in heaven. {St. Mark 3:29} 23. Conversion This is a process of the Holy Spirit changing one from a sinner into a full believer. The process consists of repentance, restitution, peace of God and man, and concluded with baptism. Because man carries a sinful nature, which can not be converted, his soul goes through a conversion process to find full assurance as a believer in Christ. {St. Mark 4:12; Acts 2:38; Acts 3:19} 24. Blessed Hope After a soul repents for their sinful deeds, he can find peace with God and the peace of God. This peace is unmistakable and unspeakable for a soul to receive. This then brings a blessed hope of life eternal in heaven. {Titus 2:3} |
