Israeli Pioneer Soup
10 C water
3 T powdered chicken soup
1 head of garlic ( cloves peeled )
1/3 C risotto rice
3 medium potatoes ( cubed )
1/2 t salt
1/4 t black pepper
Put water on to boil. Separate cloves from head of garlic, put in the microwave for 20 seconds. Peel, cut into halves and add to water.

Add powdered soup, risotto, potatoes, salt and pepper. Cover.

Cook on low flame for about an hour.

*This soup was made in times of Israel's "tzena" which is when you have money but there is very little available to buy. This soup was very common before and after Israel became a state.
It's a very tasty soup!

*Putting garlic cloves in microwave makes for very easy peeling. But cloves should be used right away.

*To get the smell of garlic out of your hands, use a piece of lemon ( or lemon juice ) and rub it into your hands and wash with soap.
