My coffee mug is homemade
Thrown at a potter's wheel
By the center of my universe
Fashioned by two
Loving hands of a daughter
The milky way of skies
Celestial light glows
With promise of futures
Light beyond my life
Creating good and beauty
By her very existence
A heavenly body on earth.

I can't compete
Not in brains
Not in looks
But the North winds would avoid her chilling frost
Disarmed
Alarmed
Frozen stiff
The ice queen reigns and I cannot thaw.
