What does severe water retention look like?
basically like anyone else.  alittle bigger because my tissue spaces were from head to toe.
As you can see above.  I look just as though I were over weight.  this water comes on slowly at first.  then because of the damage of intestines and leaky capillaries.  it  comes on faster.  You may not notice it  at first.   because it was part of a major shock of losing my dad in April 2002 and my oldest brother in Nov 2002.   I did not put it seriously.  it was a hard time.  I did notice losing my beloved heidi (dog pet died just prior to my getting the book.)   that I was again not in the best way.  I had lost alot of people around me.  though not close.  but it is shocking because of 11 people  one was a aunt  ( my dad's sister betty.)  and one was a cousin Keith who shot himself unable to grief for losing  the love of his life.   I also saddly lost an uncle the week my brother died.   so it was a tragic time.     I also worked part time  at a stressful job.
Howevere You can see that water edema changes your shape.  and for the worst.  I've was always lucky to have a small waist.  Yet suffering 50lbs of water.  you think I was just fat.  yet my belly is large (swollen)  and when I lie flat on my back this hugh massive tummy leaves. and it flattens.  water moves within its tissue spaces.  unlike fat which is more stationary.  I have a theory.  If you once had a small waist line.  you would natural have a tendency to have a waist line.   You wouldn't become so hugh that you just think you because an apple person.   gaining weight.   even though I was not this big.  I know  I was not so swollen in my belly.
your belly may flatten when liding down.
here you can see I am flatten as I lie down. though I have another tape which I lost which is better.  this still shows it moves within tissue spaces.
