One of the most rewarding things I do is sit down nearly every day and write a letter to a prisoner. The prisons in America are full of lonely prisoners, who having tried the life in the fast lane, are looking for hope, looking for the way to happiness. And that way is Jesus :-) Those in prison who are already saved need encouragement from their Christian brethren, to let them know that they are not forgotten, to let them know that people out there care for them. Many people in prison have little to no contact with the "outside" world. Letters make a world of difference to them, as does the message that Jesus loves them and will forgive them if they ask HIm into their life :-) |
