The above quote applies
to me in my classroom.
Just once I would like to wander in, only to discover that all 30 bright
shiny faces are in their seat, silent, ready, and waiting for whatever
fun stuff I've got for them to do on this fine day.
I need your help.
Teach your child to
wait.
Operant conditioning helps (are you catching on to why I used the dog
picture here?). Simply tell your child that if s/he will sit
silently and wait a moment, you will reward him or her with
something. Use easy rewards such as food, soft drinks, candy,
etc.. Don't reward the silence EVERY time. Just now and
then. That emulates what we do at school. Now and then
students get a swanky song and dance show as part of the lesson.
Now and then they don't. Are ya with me? Can ya give it a
try?

Below are a few
sites that address the idea of waiting:

Enough of that preachy
stuff, get out with your children and try this!
