All About Us

The Fundamental Christian
Ministry (FCM) is an outreach of the Calvary (Tengah)
Bible-Presbyterian Church to students studying in the universities and
polytechnics here in Singapore. From its start in 1986, FCM has now 4
groups - one catering to the Science Faculty in the National
University of Singapore, one catering to those studying in NUS
(Arts/Engineering) and the Singapore Management University, one in the
Nanyang Technological University/National Institute of Education and
finally one catering to all students in the polytechnics. We have a
total of about 60 members.
Apart from the weekly Bible studies, the FCM also holds a combined meeting
about every quarter. This is a chance for members of the different FCM
groups to meet and get to know one another. And during these combined
meetings, ministers of the Almighty brings us His Word whilst allowing
FCMers an opportunity to raise questions regarding the Christian faith.

Our Stand : |
| |
The FCM holds on to the
doctrinal stand of the Calvary (Tengah) Bible-Presbyterian Church --
reformed, premillennial, covenantal and separatist. This can be
summarily comprehended in the Westminster Confession of Faith (1647)
and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms. In addition, we hold on to the
King James Version (KJV) as the most faithful and reliable translation
of the Bible in the English language. The following
represents our positional stand on the Bible:
We believe in the divine, Verbal Plenary Inspiration (Autographs) and
Verbal Plenary Preservation (Apographs) of the Scriptures in the
original languages, their consequent inerrancy and infallibility, and
as the perfect Word of God, the supreme and final authority in faith
and life (2 Tim 3:16, 2 Pet 1:20-21, Ps 12:6-7, Matt 5:18, 24:35).
The Bible is none other than the voice of Him that sitteth upon the
throne. Every book of it, every chapter of it, every verse of it,
every word of it, every syllable of it, every letter of it, is direct
utterance of the Most High. The Bible is none other than the Word of
God, not some part of it more, some part of it less, but all alike the
utterance of Him that sitteth upon the throne, faultless, unerring,
supreme.

Why FCM ? |
| |
The last days will be
characterised by the following:
-
The acceleration of
missions and evangelism to all nations. "And this gospel of the
kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all
nations; and then shall the end come" (Matt 24:14). This is clearly
evidenced today by the numerous mission outreaches in the world,
even to third-world countries.
-
The emergence of many
false teachers and prophets. "And many false prophets shall rise,
and shall deceive many" (Matt 24:11). "This know also, that in the
last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of
their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemous,
disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural
affection,
trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of
those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of
pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness but
denying the power thereof: from such turn away" (2 Tim 3:1-5). This
is clearly evidenced today by the ecumenical movement that seeks to
unite Protestants back to Roman Catholicism. One organisation
involved in the ecumenical movement is the
World Council of Churches (WCC).

As we are living in the last
days, FCM seeks to fulfil the following objectives:
-
To spread the gospel of
the Lord Jesus Christ in obedience to the Great Commission (Matt
28:18-20).
-
To earnestly contend for
the faith which was once and for all delivered unto the saints (Jude
3).
-
To provide sound,
fundamental fellowship to tertiary students, so as to preserve them
from the increasing apostasy in the world.
