of the schools in Johor that have contributed significantly towards the echelon of
manpower which has played a vital role in not only serving to build a strong Malaysia in
the public and private sectors but has produced many of those contributed towards the
achievement of Independence. Many of those who took the final Senior Cambridge Examinations in 1938-1941 went on to make incredible contributions to the formation of independence and the political and administrative structure that laid the foundations of present day Malaysia. I greatly look forward to reuniting with my classmates who distinguished themselves in the variety of fields including business, army, politics and academia. "The English College of Johor Bahru during my
time had a very well balanced mix of students representing the main races of Johoreans. We
developed a great spirit of comraderie and a spirit of belonging to the State of Johor and
in particular to Malaya, I am sure that the spirit still exist amongst us today. In my
last two years, 1938 and 1939, I was fortunate to have my classmates, students who later
in life have contributed greatly to the development of forging a united and prosperous
independent country. I still have fond memories of them, the late Prime Minister Tun Hussien Onn, Retired General Tan Sri Ibrahim Ismail, Royal Professor Ungku Abdul Aziz and many others who had achieved high positions in our country. The spirit of unity amongst us and the spirit of belonging to one nation with no thought of racial differences was manifested during the period of May 13, 1969 where the State of Johor was peaceful and calm and I hope this will continue to be so in the future" Y.Bhg. | "Pertemuan gergasi peringkat kebangsaan ini pasti
merakamkan detik sejarah yang menjanjikan perubahan imej sebuah maktab yang pernah suatu
ketika dahulu dipandang sebagai salah sebuah pusat ilmiah terunggul di Malaya / Malaysia. Sahutlah! Seruan pertemuan yang beragendakan prinsip-prinsip berbentuk integrasi antara pelbagai generasi maktab yang datang dari perbedaan susur galur kaum, agama dan struktur sosio-ekonomi.
