| Talk of the great Real Madrid trio; Raul, Zinedine Zidane and Luis Figo, Musoma had its own trio at Kazi(formerly Comworks) made of Nyetara, Owiti and Malaki. The footballing power centred on the die-hard Mara Spurs, Kazi, Kilimo, Magereza, Police, JWTZ and of course Musoma Alliance and Musoma College. The author of these pages is a Musoma native who grew up amidst a flourishing football boom in Musoma. Those were the days when football was played for the fun of it and the love for the club. Professionalism was slowly encroaching in the mid-70s, as Miraji Kigera and the Five Brothers' Garage "tycoons" started commercialising it. |
