Maria Marroquin, Director of the Worker Center was named 'Woman of the
Year' in 2003 by State Assembly member Sally Lieber.
The
Worker Center at Calvary Church is a non-profit organizaton that charges
no fees to workers or people who buy their services.
The Center
is a drug and alcohol free environment.
Our Mission: We seek to provide a dignified setting in which to connect workers
and employers. We strive for the empowerment of all workers through fair
employment, education and job skills training, with the goal of achieving
full economic self-sufficiency.
In The
Community: We
are very active in our community. In March 2003, 26 day workers completed
the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training Program. Expanded
since 9/11, the CERT program trains people in skills including CPR, first
aid, fire suppression, search and rescue, and disaster psychology.
