Meet the 2007 Milford Valley Scholarship Recipient
Lindsey Grillas.
Lindsey, a senior at Delaware Valley High School, has been described as a bright young lady who has motivation to achieve goals. She is involved in the after school knitting club which has been making prayer scarves and blankets for ill people in the community. As a child Lindsey has always been interested in art. She has found new types of art that would not involve paint, be less costly and not create a mess � a consideration to her single mom and 2 younger siblings. She enjoys knitting, crocheting, beading and working with acrylics, charcoal, oil, pencil, clay and metal. She looks forward to attending Keystone in Pennsylvania College and pursuing a teaching career in Art.
The Milford Valley Quilters� Guild offers a $500 scholarship to a high school senior who has been accepted by a college to further his or her studies in the field of Art: graphic design, oil, watercolor, or acrylic painting, mixed media, sculpture, fashion design, fabric design, interior decorating, or other related fields (excluding the performing arts). Graduating Seniors from Delaware Valley High School, Port Jervis High School, Highpoint Regional High School, and Wallenpaupack High School are eligible to apply for these scholarships.
Application requirements are as follows:
3.0 grade point average Transcripts of grades, 9-12 Letter of recommendation from a teacher Copy of acceptance letter to a college Essay stating short personal history and goals for future career (Portfolio of artwork may also be requested) (Mail to above address.)
