Inspired
by the beautiful landscapes and life in the
countryside of her native Cuba, Margarita
Vidal knew from childhood that she wanted to
paint. But it would take her arrival in New
York in 1961 to commence her endeavor in
drawing and oleo painting.
By 1967 she
had moved to Miami, becoming Art Director of
Eagle Lithographers, where she designed book
covers, magazine layouts and school books.
Her true love of art and her resolute spirit
to make improvement a lifelong goal, she
enrolled in art classes at the University of
Miami, where she learned to paint landscapes.
The
amalgamation of this phase with consequent
study periods, resulted in a technique and
style of her own.
Margarita's unique style, her jubilant
character, the use of colors and detailed
themes of countryside sceneries have earned
her recognition in Miami's artistic circles,
where she has exhibited her work over the
years.
Her beautiful mulatto women
communicate the essence of these Latin
American natives, of their music and their
color.
Her paintings are clear examples of
daily living, perhaps as it once was, or
perhaps as we wish it to be, where the
brightness of colors transmit joy and peace to
the observer.
