Who We Are

The clubs motto is "Public Service with Fun and Friendship."

The club has the following activities:

• Monthly meetings
  
  
• Monthly Volunteer Examination Sessions
  
  
• Maintains a 2 meter repeater which is open to all and has a telephone autopatch covering the Northern Virginia - DC Metro area for its members.
  
  
• Participates in the Fairfax County ARES/RACES program
  
  
• Has a monthly breakfast meeting
  
  
• Conducts a weekly ARES net on the repeater
  
  
• Publish a monthly club newsletter entitled Ye Olde RF Output or YORFO as it is often called
  
  
• Maintains a web page to publize the club and keeps our members informed
  
  
• Co-sponsors Venturing Post 80 - W3BSA (formerly Explorer Post 80)
  
  
• MVARC members serve as the primary operators for the US Coast Guard MARS station NNN0NCG - K4CG, located on Telegraph Road in Alexandria VA.
  
  
• MVARC conducts a Special Event Station in commemoration of George Washington's Birthday each President's Day weekend from George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate on the west shore of the Potomac River.
  
  
• Has an annual holiday party
  
  
• The Club also participates in the annual ARRL Field Day exercise in late June. MVARC is affiliated with the American Radio Relay League (ARRL).
  
  
• Has an annual picnic in conjunction with its Field Day activities
