VEC tests:

The testing location for all VE exams in 2003 has changed to the First Christian Church, 2723 King Street, Alexandria, VA. Check map link below, This change is for the entire year because of schedule conflicts at Lee District Park.

Club Breakfast:
MVARC has an informal club breakfast on the 4th Saturday of each month at 8:30 A.M. at the Old Country Buffet, Jefferson Davis Highway (Route 1), Hybla Valley.
Because of Field Day, the next club breakfast will be on June 21, 2003 at the at the Old Country Buffet. MAP

The Mount Vernon ARC conducts a weekly HF net every Saturday and Sunday to maintain contact with members who have moved out of the area.

Mount Vernon Field Day Event
Every year Mount Vernon ARC participants in the annual ARRL Field Day event on the last full weekend in June. This event requires club members to demonstrate their ability to operate in the field under emergency conditions for a 24 hour period beginning Saturday afternoon and ending Sunday afternoon.
The 2003 field day will be June 28 & 29 at the Pohick Bay Regional Park. For additional information contact Steve Schneider, K3IZ.

MVARC Training Program:
Training courses to assist hams in getting their first license, or in upgrading to higher class licenses, are an integral part of MVARC's activities. We typically present an entry-level course for the Novice and Technician class licenses each fall, and occasionally at other times of the year. Upgrade courses for the General and Advanced classes are offered in the winter months. An Extra class course is occasionally offered. Morse code (CW) instruction is included in our courses. MARS:
MVARC members serve as the primary operators for the US Coast Guard MARS station NNN0NCG, K4CG, located in Alexandria VA. In order to promote and keep the radio station active and available during emergencies, the Coast Guard Station Commander has signed an agreement with the Mount Vernon ARC in which MVARC will provide operators for the station. In return the Coast Guard will allow amateur radio operations for contesting, DXing, and other events. Mount Vernon Special Event Station:
Mount Vernon will activate its annual special event station in observance of George Washington's Birthday. This station, used the club call sign K4US, during the President's Day weekend from the Mount Vernon Plantation.
The 2003 Special Event Station commemorating George Washington's Birthday was held at the Mount Vernon Estate on February 15th & 16th.The station K4US will operate phone on the lower, general portions of 40, 20 and 10 meters and CW on 30 and 17 meters.
