Mount Vernon Field Day 2001 |

Mount Vernon ARC participates in the annual ARRL Field Day using the club call sign K4US. This year's event will be held June 23th & 24th at the Northern Virginia Regional Pohick Bay Park. Setup begins at 0800 hours Saturday and the Field Day operating begins at 1400 hours for 24 straight hours. Plans include stations on 15, 20, 40, & 80 meter CW and 15, 20, 40, & 80 meter SSB. We can always use more operators and members to help setup and break down. |

Instead of breakfast at the Old Country Buffet, Mary Morris, N4TCI, will provide bagels for breakfast Saturday morning (from 8:00 a.m. on). For Saturday Lunch, usually someone offers to be a "runner" to pick-up lunch. On Saturday evening there will be the MVARC PICNIC. The club will provide the basics, e.g. hot dogs, chicken, paper plates, etc. John & Mary, WZ4A & N4TCI will provide their usual high quality hamburgers and hot dogs. Chicken will also be on the grill. Members & their families who attend the PICNIC are asked to bring a covered dish or dessert. Glenn Bilger, W4OCC, (AKA Chef Liugi or LU1GI)and Doug Fischer, WA3WEP, will be the official cooks. For Sunday morning breakfast, Doug, WA3WEP, will again cook. Don't miss out on the fun!
NOTE: If your vehicle does not have a local Virginia jurisdiction "sticker", then you may have to pay an admission fee. Admission Park entrance fee for nonmember jurisdictions is $4.50 per vehicle, per day; $10 per vehicle, per week and $8 per vehicle with 10 or more passengers. (Member jurisdictions: Alexandria, Arlington, City of Fairfax, Fairfax County, Falls Church and Loudoun) DIRECTIONS: Drive south on Route 1 and turn left onto Gunston Road. Drive past the Pohick Bay Golf Course to the camp ground entrance on the left side. The site is camp sites 140 thru 150 in the rustic area. Its to the 1st left past Gatehouse. Follow the road to a left that has a sign that says"overflow camping" and the sites are beyond the boat storage and bath house Come join the fun!! A map of the location is available. Click Here
