The Land of N.W.F.P

Physically  the features of N.W.F.P (North West Frontier Province) are presenting a very hard and complex picture. The province is geographically divided into 5 divisions. Peshawar, Kohat, Dera Ismail Khan, Malakand, and Hazara.

The total area of the province is 39248 square miles. the greatest length of the province is 408 miles and greatest breadth 279 mils. To its north the mountains range oft Hindu Kush to the south the province of Baluchistan and Dera Ghazi Khan district of Punjab, Kashmir and the province of Punjab lay to its east and Afghanistan to its west. except from Hazara Division, which is Cis-Indus the rest of the province is trans-Indus.

The N.W.F.P is terrain rugged rocky and wild with lofty mountains and scanty to cultivation. However some fertile valleys also exist in this region. The south eastern part of the province is plain but had little mountains in Hazara and Kohat divisions with fertile plans for cultivation.

The land or NWFP is witness of a lot of revolutionary changes and alteration and played an important role in history making. The North West hilly passes of the provinces are serving fro centuries as routes of foreign invasions and trade between Central Asia and Indo-Pakistan.

NWFP is the home of Pathans (Pushtoons or Pukhtoons) Though its most of the areas are hilly and scanty to cultivation yet the North Western Mountains of this region are full of mineral resources and forests. The plains of the provinces are fertile and suitable for cultivation of all kinds of corps.

The NWFP was giver to this land by the British in 1901 due to its existences on the north western frontiers of Indo-Pakistan. This land has given birth to many civilizations and had never bee completely occupied by any invader.

 

The People of N.W.F.P

The inhabitants of North West Frontier Province are know as Pathans. They are physically strong built and having beautiful colour. The riddle of their origin has not yet been solved satisfactorily. Different tales are famous regarding their genealogy. Some Historians say that Pathans are belonging from Mauria or Sassanians race while other are of the opinion that they are belonging from Khalid Bin-e-Waleed race. (Khalid Bin-e-Waleed was a Muslim General)

Pathans are valiant, energetic, gentle, hospitable kind, honest and freedom lover people. This is the only one nationality of the world, which is remained un-ruled all the times. Due to their natural characteristics of freedom loving and war liking attitude, they have always given hard resistance to all invaders of their country. They offered great sacrifices as a price of their freedom and never hesitated from any sacrifice to maintain their freedom.

The Hospitality of Pathans is famous all over the world. Once even an ordinary guest enters to their hujra, they treat him as a great man and meet him with respect and honour and accept all responsibilities of his safety of life and property
