| First of all, the fact that I am typing this on a webpage ("builder" no less) is testament to how much I am "into" this family history stuff. I am not, I repeat, not into computers and have confirmed my fears that "it would take up too much of my time that I want to be outside." (I have been sitting here for over 3 hours now indoors on a perfectly nice day.) I am thrilled, however, to finally get this stuff "out there" and be getting responses from people who are maybe related to us or at least have Lemko heritage in their ancestry. I would like to thank Tiffany (my friend in clogging) for setting up the original site and helping me learn the basics. Scott's friend, Jim has been a big help straightening out our "boo-boos," and Danny has helped Dad set up his new computer and taught him the basics. Kathy's friend, Dave, is also helping us and I think when Kathy feels comfortable to "add stuff" we will really "take off" (pictures and all!) All the rest of you family members . . . this is also your webpage! So get in there and start reading the E-mails and when you are ready, you can add your own "page" like this one on the Family Pages section. We can have more sections, too . . . like "Memories" "Our Reunion Recipes" "Family Tree" etc. Whatever happens, or doesn't happen, with this page, I am already pleased to say that it has given Dad, Scott and I something in common to work on and talk about. I can only hope it can be the same for some of the rest of you who live so far apart. After all, that is what is so great about the computer . . . it brings far-away people closer together. (more later . . . ) Well, now it is later, and I have finally been successful at finding computers in the library that will allow me to open the "page builder" program. I have been practicing opening and linking pages today, and finally feel as though I am "getting somewhere." I still have to learn how to scan (which I cannot do at the library) so we can add the birth records and the Ellis Island documents. And I have to teach Kathy, Rich and Frannie how to get in and "add" to the pages we have set up for them. The reunion is in a couple of weeks, so it is just in time for me to copy this stuff for everyone to see. (more later . . . ) It's now 10/5/04 and I need to think about really adding my "page" about my trip to Poland and my experiences. I promised our guides, the Malecki's, that I would do whatever I could to advertise their wonderful services and facilities, which made our trip possible and very enjoyable. I also plan to add sections where I can scan in the birth records and Ellis Island documents for everyone to see (but I'll need Tiffany for that!) next page |
