For generations artists, musicians, painters and writers alike, have been drawn to the magnificent landscapes of the Ausseer region for inspiration. Immortal works by Brahms, Mahler and Richard Strauss were created in these romantic environs. You may even recognize scenery from "The Sound of Music" filmed here. It should therefore be no surprise that the concentrated work on music under the guidance of artist teachers, excursions into nature, the charm of a medieval town where the local inhabitants still walk around in native costumes, where small ensembles of musicians play century old Landler in café and restaurants, all combine to produce fresh insights and the exhilaration of intense creativity.
This is exactly what happened since 1997, when MUSIK ZENTRAL was founded and directed by Professor Martyn van den Hoek (Vienna). Participants from all over the world demonstrated by their rapid development, that our multi-
faceted learning approach in such a richly creative setting was successful. The Orchestral Course , first held in 1998, gives a rather unique insight in playing concertos, as we offer ample rehearsals and interpretation possibilities, conducted by our experiented faculty.
Covering the center of our curriculum, the Solo Piano Courses, connected with other artistic elements, will certainly be another source of inspiration to an increasing number of participants, who attended Musik Zentral over the last years, as well as to those that wish to join us in 2009. Now, in its 13th year, Musik Zentral will also organize special courses for the younger generation of pianists and violinists. Additionally, historical- and the central European traditional dance, as well as chamber music courses "on-short - notices", add to the final goal of Musik Zentral : to enrich your playing by many different artistic experiences. And, eventually, have as many as possible invited to play in our concerts and present yourself to the Austrian audiences.
We look forward to welcoming you all, students, teachers, concertizing pianists and music lovers to Bad Aussee again this summer!
