| After the success of their performance at the Dewar Arena, we took a few moments and talked backstage in the womens locker room with comedians Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood from the improvisational show, Whose Line Is It Anyway.
Beth:So, what was your first impression of Oneonta? <All laughs> Brad Sherwood: Well, it was really rainy, and I sat in the back of the car sleeping, so I dont think I could answer that question. Colin Mochrie: The thing about these things is that we really dont get a chance to see the city that were in. We got to the hotel at 2, Brad had his flight which was sort of all screwed up, he had no sleep and so he went to bed immediately. I went to a pizza place. So from what I saw it was really nice. BR: Did you see any townspeople or students in town? CM: No! We really didnt see anyone; it was really quiet. BS: We hardly ever do. Im catching a plane at Five in the morning, so you literally dont see anyone but in the airports, I could tell you about every airport, but unless were doing a weekend show. Sometimes well do a weekend of shows at a theater some place, and then we have the day to knock around and check out the city. CM: Its actually nice when we do have a chance because then we can find out some local stuff and sometimes incorporate it into the show. So we actually prefer having more a little more time. BR: So how close are you guys outside of the show? BS <Laughs>: Well, I have a restraining order against Colin. We can only be within 50 feet during the actual performance. CM: Its hard for me because I live in a different country, so this is the only time I actually get to see them. When we do gigs together its a nice chance to catch up. BS: We hardly ever go more than about 2 months without seeing each other because were doing shows so its like were seeing each other all the time, and under great circumstances because were getting paid to do what we love to do. We went to Hawaii for a corporate gig; the show wasnt that good, but hey, we got to spend a weeks vacation in Hawaii for one show. And weve all known each other for a while, I mean, Colin has known Ryan [Styles] forever, Ive known Colin for 10-11 years now. Wow. |

| BR: So what do you do in your free time, if you have any?
BS and CM: Hmm Free time CM: Actually, Im just heading into a period of free time so I dont know yet! I hang out with my family, my wife and son; I tend to just hang out around the house because I dont get to hang around there, and Im the cook of the family so Im basically baking and cooking and BS: Oh man, this is going to be such a boring interview CM: I know, and uh... wearing hooker boots! <All Laugh> Diana: Whats your weirdest experience with an audience member? BS: Well, during Moving Bodies weve been grabbed in inappropriate places. Every once and awhile, when we do clubs and stuff, well have a really drunk person so that can be a loose cannon doing sounds effects or Moving Bodies. CM: Oh yeah, in Vegas we had a guy who was really drunk and he was doing sound effects and all he did for the entire thing was animal noises. MEOW WOOF WOOF WOOF. Yeah, that was difficult. BR: What would you say is the most exciting or embarrassing experience? Cm: Well, I got to neck with Florence Henderson, that was kind of exciting since it was someone I grew up watching. BS: I got to neck with Colin Mochrie once. I also planted a big wet one on Mike McShane once that was probably my most embarrassing. CM: Whose Line? is probably one of the gayest shows on television. Every one has kissed everyone else. BS: Theres a quote! There has been more man to man kisses on that show than all the years of Will and Grace, NYPD Blue, and like The Shield put together CM: The Shield? BS: Uh Ok, Queer as Folk. BR: Did you always dream of being in the entertainment business? And how did you get into it? CM: Actually Brad and I found out recently we both had similar dreams of becoming marine biologists and then something took a weird turn; it just didnt work out. BS: Were both left-handed Sagittarians who, when we were little kids, wanted to be oceanographers/marine biologists. CM: It all changed when I did my first school play and got my first laugh and that was pretty much it. |
