These are the 2 kids I just started sponsoring through Compassion International. They sent me a flyer and I saw the pictures of all the little kids and my heart broke and so I wanted to sponsor one. And then I decided $28 a month isn't that much, and I can definitely afford to support more than one. So I'm sponsoring two. Some people say "woah $56 a month is a lot of money" but it isn't really. It's not my money, it's God's and I really think He approves of me spending it this way.
I strongly urge everyone to consider sponsoring a kid. If you think you don't have enough money, you're wrong. Seriously, no matter what, you have more money than these kids have. We're rich here in America.
Sending money isn't the only part of sponsoring a kid though, for those of you who don't know what sponsoring kids is all about. I also write letters to them and pray for them. God has given me a huge love for this kids since the second I saw their picture.
It feels so awesome to know you're being used by God. Spending $56 on these kids feels much better than spending $56 on clothes or CDs. This is what joyful giving is all about.
All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had...There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need.
Acts 4:32,34-35 NIV
You're a spoiled brat, oh yes, it's true. You're stuck on self nobody matters but you. Forget about the hungry in Mexico. Go play your stupid Nintendo. We've got everything we want. We're ungrateful spoiled little brats. We need a humble self esteem. Stop living for a selfish dream. We need to stop taking it for granted, all the wonderful things that He does for us. We don't deserve all of His grace. We let stupid things take His place. It's a wonder why we have trouble living for God, always watching that MTV. We have all the stupid things that we could ever want, but we're missing out on the one thing that we need.

Precious in His Sight by Laura Wells

Looking at her little face
My burdened heart begins to break.
Seeing her eyes full of fear,
Makes my eyes fill with tears.

I want to hold her,
Pull her into my lap and squeeze her tight.
I want to play with her,
Take away all her anger and her fright.
I want to show her Jesus
Let her know everything will be alright.

Jesus loves the little children
All the children of the world.
Red, yellow, black and white,
They are precious in His sight,
Jesus loves you little girl
More than you'll ever know.

He wants to hold you in His lap,
And take away all of your fears.
He wants to run and play with you,
And wipe away all of your tears.

Jesus loves the little children,
All the children of the world.
Red, yellow, black and white,
They arae precious in His sight.

Looking at her little face,
The Father's heart begins to break.
Seeing her eyes full of fear,
Makes Him cry a million tears.

So go and love the little children
All around the world.
Show them that God loves them,
Every single boy and girl.
People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.
-Mark 10:13-16 NIV
If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered. Proverbs 21:13 NIV
A generous man will himself be blessed for he shares his food with the poor. Proverbs 22:9 NIV
