dreams

my dreams are made of usual things
dark magic eyes undress me
under the layers of silk that fall to my bed
and i must escape from the trampling
hooves of wild horses;
afterward, i chase poetry up a rainbow
that stretches across oceans of
rippling cocoa waves
and find myself laughing
under the tickling of purple feathers
and flicking tongues

in my dreams,
i feel for you, the calm center in my
swirling water world
but you too are dreaming, and so
detached from me
unable to sense me calling to you. i tell you
this is nothing new
my dreams are made of usual things
poems
