Poem Review by Andrew Angus

Title of Poem:
"I'll See You In My Dreams"
Poet:
Rewa Marie Fyles
Source:
Feeling Poetic (2003)
Rating: 4 laurels out of 5 laurels.

Rewa's poem "I'll See You In My Dreams" is a romantic poem about a girl dreaming about his ideal man whom she meets in reality.

The poem is composed of 10 couplets. It has a rhyming scheme of aa, bb, cc, dd, ee, ff, gg, hh, ii, jj.

The girl in the poem meets the man of his dream in reality but the man does not know  her inner feelings for him -

"There you are right in my my face,
Another day we meet and share the same space.

The only communication is a hi or simple smile,
But the tension I feel runs my heart wild.

I wish I could what I really feel,
But it seems inappropriate to make this fantasy real."

I think many girls feel the same way as the female character in the poem. This could be feelings of infatuation or real admiration of the opposite sex or desire for romance.

What if the girl likes the man and the man is not into her? It would be surely painful.

So the female character in the poem just resorts to fantasy hoping someday her dreams would become true. The last three couplets reveal her longing for affection from the man of his dreams -

"Caring and sharing, exchanging warm expressions of love,
You're what I've been missing; this is something I can only dream of.

So go away and leave, and to me say not one word,
Because my feelings are spared when we unite in our world.

Bye my love, for now it seems,
But soon we'll be together when I see you in my dreams."

This is one Rewa's short poem in her book
Feeling Poetic.

I'll See You in My Dreams

There you are right in my my face,
Another day we meet and share the same space.

The only communication is a hi or simple smile,
But the tension I feel runs my heart wild.

I wish I could what I really feel,
But it seems inappropriate to make this fantasy real.

So I leave with not a hint of concern,
Knowing in my mind, you shall return.

But not to this destined place is where you'll be,
We'll be together in my private fantasy.

Thre are no distractions in my dream world,
Only you and me, no other guys or girls.

We're just as happy as a couple can be,
If this were real, what a sight we'd be.

Caring and sharing, exchanging warm expressions of love,
You're what I've been missing; this is something I can only dream of.

So go away and leave, and to me say not one word,
Because my feelings are spared when we unite in our world.

Bye my love, for now it seems,
But soon we'll be together when I see you in my dreams.

What I Like About Him

by
Rewa Marie Fyles
Source: Feeling Poetic (2003), p 31.

I like the sly way that he has kept me hanging on for so long.
My heart with his, I feel I could not go wrong.

I love his sweet and gentle kiss,
If I were to ever leave him, I'm sure this I would miss.

I like when my man gets in a playful state,
A man without a sense of humor is something that I hate.

I love my man and his smile made of gold,
The memory of every moment spent, I will forever hold.

The loss of his love is something that I fear.
That's why the love he gives is something so dear.

The love my man makes is so passionate and true,
To him I cling the entire night through.

I love this man with all of my heart,
To find another love, where would I start?

I like when he shows seriousness and might,
While his love for me he does not lose sight.

I love this man thought he seems unaware,
If he ever needs someone, for him I will be there.
