Rating:
5 laurels out of 5 laurels

The poem "The Love in Your Eyes" is one of the best poems in Randy's first full-length poetry book  Tears rolling down the heartstring.

It has three stanzas of 9 lines, 8 lines and 9 lines. It is semi-rhymed poem.

If you read a poem, it is like a lyrics of a ballad.

The poem is about a man wooing a woman.

The male character in the poem thinks love can seen by just looking at the eyes of a woman.

The eyes is said to be the windows through the soul. And here is one poem that recognizes the eyes as a window of the soul.
The poet thinks that the eyes are windows of the heart -

"I can see the moon in the night
And your eyes shine through the light
The light of the moon
Which your eyes will glow
The gust of the wind
Which your hair will blow
I can see the wind in the trees
And your heart no one did see
Came to me, with love in your eyes"

(Bold letters for emphasis)

The male character in the poem feels  an assurance of being  love by looking at the eyes of the lady in the poem.

"I can feel the sun in daydreams
And your eyes show through it seems
The dreams is the sun
Which cry for the night
The calm in the storm
Which comes for the fight
I can feel the storm in darkness
And your heart no one needs less
You said yes, with love in your eyes."

(Bold letters for emphasis)

This kind of poem is the stuff of romantic ballads.

This kind of poem is rare nowadays. Wooing a lady with highly emotional words is rare nowadays.

Hence, this poem is nominated Best Poem of the Year 2004 by Muses Review.

The Love in Your Eyes

by
Randy Redmond (Illinois)
Source:
Tears rolling down the heartstring (2004) p.45

I can see the moon in the night
And your eyes shine through the light
The light of the moon
Which your eyes will glow
The gust of the wind
Which your hair will blow
I can see the wind in the trees
And your heart no one did see
Came to me, with love in your eyes

The love in your eyes
Can you tell me why
It hurts when they cry
The love in your eyes
Can't wait til they dry
It takes me so high
Like the eagle, he flies
For the love in your eyes,

I can feel the sun in daydreams
And your eyes show through it seems
The dreams is the sun
Which cry for the night
The calm in the storm
Which comes for the fight
I can feel the storm in darkness
And your heart no one needs less
You said yes, with love in your eyes.

Dying For Your Love

by Randy Redmond (Illinois)

p.65

I'm so lonely inside
I need something to do
to take my mind off of you
Because I'm going to hurt you
When I leave you to go
Try to forget all of me
But I can't forget you

I want you, I need you
I'm dying for your love
I kiss you, I hug you
I'm dying for your love

I want you one more time
To be in my arms again
For the last time that I see you
Will be special in my heart
Because I'll be leaving soon
Real  far from here and you
For going to save you the pain

And when I go, I hope you will know
The love I felt for you, was so deep inside
It made me cry, when I wrote this...to you

The poem "Dying For Your Love" is another romantic poem of Randy. It has four uneven stanzas.

It is a poem about breaking up or a poem about separation.

Again,  the poem is like a lyrics of a ballad. Many of the poems in the book are about heterosexual romance.

"Dying for your love". Does this kind of love exist in modern society?  Such kind of love may still exist in many places where heterosexual romance is still untainted by dark elements of city life such as  pornography and divorce.

If you visit the towns or rural areas, divorce is kind of minimal if not rare.

I grew in a city for more than 20 years. I stayed in a rural after living in a city for more than 20 years. I can see the difference between rural life and city life.  People in rural areas tend to be more God-fearing than people in urban areas.

Does this kind of love exists in the city? Dying for your love? Of course, it exists. But why is it many  city people who are in love end up in divorce after a couple of years. Why is it many city people engage in heterosexual romance, marry then end up in divorce?

Maybe, there are too many temptations and sinful elements  in the city.

Nevertheless, this poem is still good from the point of view of romantic poetry

Very few poets can write a full-length poetry book of romance. And Randy's book is one full-length poetry book of romance.
