12 years ago I recieved my first musical instrument ever from my parents, a violin. I played the violin with little to no interest up until I was about 13, when I got an electric bass. After playing with a few people and even joining a band called The Lemmings, I also switched to upright bass, and set my violin aside. 2 years later, I learned guitar, and a little bit of drums and piano. I ended up quitting the Lemmings and teamed up with Lily Maring, Lisa Murphy, and Aaron Meyer to create Lo-Fi. Lo-Fi was pretty freaking fun, but unfortunately it only lasted one summer until I had to go back to school, Lily to Olympia, Aaron to college, and Lisa to... uhhh... somewhere. But anyway, it didn't work out.

A few months later after discovering a new interest in harder, more uptempo electronic music, I got my first sampler. After hours of figuring out how it worked and making beats I started going to the Matrix every week or so to play around with it. Eventually I also got a CD player, and a distortion pedal, and some other stuff, and named my solo project "Murder" the Cat.

So the name Murder the Cat may come off as sounding pretty hostile, but it wasn't intentional at all. After getting my sampler I also got into stencil making. One stencil I made was one of a cat, that I wrote Murder over, as to be its name. The name of my solo project, "Murder" the Cat, referrs to the Cat's name, not what I want to do to it. Poor kitties, I love them.
