David was our fourth child and he came to us at a time in our lives that we needed to see hope.
When we brought him home from the hospital no one could have been happier than his brother, Matthew.  You see Matthew prayed for a baby brother.
David was a very quiet baby and brought us so much joy.  I remember when he first started walking without holding on.  He didn't walk he ran.  And all because his Pop(daddy) was chasing him around...he was giggling the whole time.
David started preschool on his second birthday.  He really loved the kids and teachers.  He didn't talk much just a few small words but we thought he was just a quiet child.
Right after David's third birthday he started having seizure like spells.  We contacted the BDSRA and found out they had a new test.  It took six weeks to get the results back.  David has Batten's!  He is Dying!
Then David lost his ability to talk, most of his sight and his ability to walk or move his arms normally.
David's happiest times was spent in front of the TV watching Barney video's.  The music and bright colors attracted him.
Update 1/18/2000:  David had his 5th birthday last week.  On Jan. 13th he had surgery to put a feeding tube in.  It didn't go as well as it should have but David is healing better now.  He is unable to do anything without our help now.
Update 2/17/2000:  David is declining in health now.  He is having uncontrolable fevers and having seizures all the time.  The Doctor says he believes it is damage to the brain stem.  We now pray for David to be at peace and with God.  4/30/2000: At 3:30pm today David went to be with his sisters, Misty and Angel and brother, Kevin in heaven.
Well soon it will have been 6 years since David went to heaven.  A lot has happened since then but our Barney Boy stays on our mind.  Krista keeps a picture of him near her all the time.  She is always wanting to know what David is doing.  She tells me she loves him and wishes she could play with him.
I look around at kids his age and wonder...what would he have looked like, would he be in sports...would he like to read.  So many questions.
But life goes on and a memory in our heart he will remain.
