So why call him a Lamb and not a shark or an elephant? Lambs - they were used in the Old Testament times as sacrificial animals for forgiveness of sins. If someone did something against God, called "sin", they needed to sacrifice (that is, kill) a Lamb in order for their sins to be forgiven. Now, can you imagine how hard it must have been back then? And the number of Lambs they killed in a year in order for their sins to be forgiven? So what's the point of all this and how does it relate to Jesus?? Well, as of approximately 2000 years ago, Jesus is now our Sacrificial Lamb. By dying on the cross, he has paid the price in full for all our sins. We no longer need to slaughter any animals - but ask God for forgiveness through Jesus, for he has taken away our punishment for sin. Is that it? No- we must have faith and believe that Jesus is the Lamb, that he is the Son of God, the Son of Man, our Saviour! We must make God number one in our life and live daily for him. We must have a relationship with him through reading the Bible and through Prayer.
