Vedic texts and Puranas state that the Navagrahas or planets have a profound influence on the life and activiits of Man. The 9 planets that awe worship are Surya (Sun), Chandra (Moon), Kuja (Mars), Buddha (Mercury), Guru (Jupiter) ,Shukra (Venus), Sani (Saturn), Rahu (Dragon head) and Kethu (Dragon Tail) .They have considerable influence in space and time.

The planetary position is used by astrologists to calculate the Hindu calendar and for the Panchangam, the solar and lunar movements are needed for calculation. 

The Navagrahas influence the ups and down in human life and by so doing we recognize all the three important universal dimensions- space, time and infinity. This is followed and practiced in all our spritiual doings including prayers, worship and rituals.
