FROM THE MIND OF THE MUNCHKIN...
April 7, 2004
MUNCHKINLAND IS MOVING!
Actually, Munchkinland is dying. It will always hold a special place in my heart, but now that I have GoLive, simple graphics and html editing just ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH! We're goin' high tech baby!
Starting soon, my new homepage will be www.geocities.com/littlestardesign. Check it out now, all that's up is the index page, but it's pretty good for the first time using GoLive. Granted, I did most of it in Illustrator and then transferred it, but ya gotta love image maps. and being able to see the tables. Anyway, more to come soon - the Journal page is the next to go up there so once that's done, Munchkinland will officially shut it's doors (though I won't delete it for a while).

Goodbye yellow brick road!

LOOK MA, I'VE GOT A MAC!
This is the most beautiful piece of machinery I've ever owned.
More tomorrow. I'm tired, but I want to play!

April 1, 2004
Happy April Fools Day! I couldn't think of anything funny to do, so I just changed the font to pink. Woohoo. Actually, technically, it's April 2nd by 15 minutes, but who's counting, really?
Tonight was like the third late-night practice in a row. I am beat man. We ran through the show several times. Its hard, and I'm still not getting it all perfect, but I'm having a blast. There's one song still kickin my butt, which is bad because I'm in the second row, in a window, so I'm totally visible. yeesh. I did it right once tonight though, so that gives me hope.

LESS THAN 24 HOURS UNTIL I HAVE A MAC!!! :) Speaking of which, don't look for me online or updates until I get Dormnet installed, which may have to wait until Monday (though you know I would love to see if it's any faster than this retarded thing) I can't wait!!! I'm so excited y'all, you have no idea. I never thought I'd actually *want* an Mac, but here I am.

I should really be going to bed since it's 12:30 am and I've stayed up until 2am almost every night this week, but I'm not tired, oddly enough. I'm exhausted, but not tired (figure THAT out). Spring Sing wound me up I guess. Oh well. Guess I should try sleeping anyway.

Wanna know something annoying? Getting really cool software in the mail, for the computer you DON'T HAVE YET! Grr

It better get here soon though, because I'm seriously about to put bulletholes or something in this one. I restarted my computer FOUR TIMES before chapel yesterday! Thats like, within an hour. Again, I say GRR. About the only programs that work on my computer now are AIM, Internet (sometimes), Music Match(sometimes) and the Sims. Which is bad, because I'm still addicted to the Sims.

So...yeah. That's all. The guestbook does still exist for anyone who cares to sign it. I'm going to change the questions. Maybe add some variety. I get bored talking about myself! So sign!

Just got in from another late-night Spring Sing practice. WOW I'm sore. But I'm having fun, I guess. I don't know. Sometimes it's more fun than last time, but sometimes it's more aggrevating. I'm finally getting the whole thing down, though, which is a good thing. I've just got one song giving me trouble. What I really like about this years show is the overall attitude. Freshman year it was all about winning - it was just a big competition. And so when we didn't even place, we were ticked, because that was what it was all about for us - beating Kojies and JuGoJu. This year, it's about having fun. I haven't even heard the awards mentioned.

In other news, I was incredibly unproductive this weekend. Well, if you count getting my entire neighborhood of Sims settled and doing well in their jobs as being productive, then maybe I have. But I didn't get nearly as much actual homework done as I needed. I just had no motivation! I couldn't force myself to do my art history. So...needless to say the next few days I'm devoting myself to getting those done (right, yeah, like anyone believes that).

1 more week until I get my Mac!

So first of all I apologize to anyone who follows these posts routinely. It's been kind of a psycho last few weeks, and with my computer being retarded, it's lucky I can even get online sometimes. But that is soon to be remedied, because I'M GETTING A NEW COMPUTER!!!! My brand new Apple G5 has been ordered and I should get it early next week. I'm so excited!!!! I'm getting Creative Suite, with all the Adobe design products too. Ordered that through the bookstore, so there's no telling how long that will take, but hey, I'm not complaining!!

So about this week. Been busy trying to catch up. Haven't done a very good job, mind you, because I've been preoccupied with trying to figure out just what the heck is wrong with this computer. And playing the Sims. Freakin addicting game.

Spring Sing is going well, other than not knowing half the show and all. Kinda sucks. I feel like an idiot at practice. But hopefully I'll be able to catch up on that too.

All in all life right now is VERY stressful and hectic. But after this weekend, once I get caught up in everything, I should be okay. I just hope I don't like...breakdown or anything. I don't think I will, but I'd rather not take a chance. And I need to stop playing Sims.

AAAHHHHH!!!!!!
Ok, so, missing 3 days of class the week before Spring break has put me SO far behind, that I'm about to just give up. I don't even know how many assignments I'm behind in Color Theory. I'm trying to finish a graphic design project that was due this morning, and I still have like 3 chapters of Art History to turn in ASAP. Not to mention I just got another Graphic Design project due next Friday (the one I've been looking forward to all semester, nonetheless) as well as Missionary Anthropology homework. And so, I say again,
AAAAAHHHHH!!!!

Well I'm back from Spring Break! It's midnight, I'm waiting for Katy to get back from the airport then it's off to bed after a long, but awesome week.

I spent my spring break in Natick, Massachussetts, which is about an hour outside of Boston. We worked with the church there, which is really small but full of amazing people. Ashley and I stayed with a family that had 4 children under the age of 7. They were PSYCHO, but lots of fun. We did a lot of distribution, just putting out flyers about the church and letting the community know who the Natick COC was and what they were about, and we sang at a nursing home and a hospital. Wednesday we almost got snowed in, we got 6-8 inches Tuesday night! And it kept snowing! So instead of more distribution, we shovelled driveways! Since more than half our campaigners were from Texas, it was a new and different experience for most of us (I've never actually had to shovel snow before!) It was lots of fun. Thursday was our free day in Boston. Wes Plybon drove down from NH to spend the day with me and Ash in Boston. It was great fun. We went to Quincy Market, did a little shopping. Then we went to the Aquarium, which was very cool! After that we took the metro to Boston Common, saw the Make Way For Ducklings statue, and went to Cheers. Then we hung out at Starbucks for a while, before Wes left and the group split again and some of us went to the North End to eat in Little Italy. Yum! Friday and Saturday went by SO fast after that. We had the Kid's Night Friday, which was so much fun. The theme was Superheros, and I was in the craft room. We made capes. It was so cute! Then Saturday was the youth rally, which went really well. People from all over the New England Area were there (like, Rhode Island and NY! We were like, you mean it only took you an hour to get here from there? Wow! We have no concept of the spatial difference between states up there) The speaker was really good and he was funny. Then today we went to church, ate a really quick lunch, then hopped the plane back to Little Rock.

For me, the campaign went well, but more than anything because I made some really awesome new friends. The dynamics of our group were just so great. Everyone got along really well, and I really hope we'll all stay friends. It was so much fun. I got to know everyone, and I had an awesome time.

I would talk more, but it's now REALLY late (Katy came home and we talked for a long time) so I'll see you soon!

ps.- My internet's back! Yay!

Something to laugh at.

March 9, 2004
Y'all have no idea how good it feels to be back in the sunshine. We had forgotten just how beautiful Ohio is this time of year...gray is such a lovely color. NOT! And it snowed the last 2 days we were there. It's supposed to be even colder next week while I'm in Boston. Guess who's NOT going to forget her jacket this time?

But seriously, my grandmother's funeral was wonderful. I got to see a few old friends from Dublin, a lot of church friends, and some friends of my grandparents who "hadn't seen me since I was yay high". And I got to see some family - including my cousin Paul - whom I hadn't seen in years. My grandmother's younger sister Mary Ross was there. It was weird because Mary Ross looks like my grandmother did fifteen years ago (course, that's about the age difference between them too - Mary Ross was definitely the baby). I also got to meet her son Stephen, and my dad's other cousin Carol Jane (my dad's family had a thing for the double names...it's even better on his dad's side). Carol Jane was the daughter of my grandmother's oldest sister Larue. It was kinda odd...Carol Jane was almost as old as Mary Ross, yet she was first cousins with my Dad and Stephen (who is probably somewhere closer to fourty - around my uncle Ken's age). Definite age gaps there. But they were all great. We had a good time. Some of my mom's family made it up to the funeral too, which was really special. We all went out to eat Sunday after the viewing (which lots of people attended), then the funeral was Monday (much fewer people there) and then we went to the cemetary (which was almost entirely family and very close friends). Mom hadn't cried at all until Monday. She and I nearly cried the entire service - yet it was odd, because I don't think you could have found two people in that room (except maybe my Dad) who were more glad that she had passed on. She's better off now, like this. I'm happy for her. I know she's with Papa and that makes me happy.

So this weekend was exhausting in a non-physical way, but I still enjoyed it. It was good to be with my family and spend some time with them. Instead of flying out Monday after the funeral I stayed until today. Monday we went to see Welcome to Mooseport with Ray Romano and Gene Hackman. Just the sort of witty comedy we needed. It was a genuinely funny movie (very Ray Romano) without any real slapstick, slightly predictable but enjoyable overall.

And now I'm back in Arkansas. The weather is be-autiful. Course, missing two (and a half - i skipped art history friday) days of classes has put me way behind...AND I won't be here Friday either. Sigh. *Frantically tries to do her work and then decides she just doesn't care that much. Meh, it'll get done*

I know I just wrote an entry like, an hour ago, but I have more news. My grandmother passed away today at around 5pm. She's in Heaven now with my Papa, so we're glad. I'll probably be going to Ohio this weekend for the funeral. Just thought you'd all want to know.

Ahh, nothing like a fresh clean journal page. The entries for January and February (in case you care) have been moved to the Archives.

Still no computer. Wes is supposed to call me today and get my tower so he can reinstall my hard drive and Windows ME (it tried to load ME on his computer over XP - he almost flipped out). So Munckinland should be *fully* up and operational again sometime this week. Nothing really exciting to report anyway. Still no news on my grandmother, she's not expected to live much more than a week or so but she's still hanging in there apparently because I haven't heard any word yet.

The only interesting thing in the last few days is that for some reason, I seem to have been in a very irritable mood lately. I've been snappy and short-tempered, easily annoyed, impatient, and just generally very negative now for a few days. I think all the stress and lack of sleep is catching up with me, but I'm trying to deal with it. I could be a lot worse, naturally. I usually over it by midafternoon, but by the evening its back. In the mornings and during classes though is when it's worse. I think Katy's been afraid more than once that I would bite her head off in the morning or during chapel. I'm eating pretty well though, so I don't think it's my blood sugar, but I could be wrong. *Shrug* Oh well. Just steer clear, my friends.

That's about all the semi-interesting news. Nothing exciting happened this weekend, I worked on a project (didn't get to watch the Oscar's either, that made me sad), I had Spring Sing practice (which is going very well - I'm actually getting the moves down! Be happy for me!). We saw Timeline Saturday. It wasn't quite as bad as some people made it out to be, though I assume the book was much better. It was still pretty bad though. Umm...went to church Sunday, hung out with Katy and Lee Sunday night. Oh we presented our Graphic Design projects Wednesday. That was a big stress relief. We all worked pretty hard on those all weekend, and then Wed. we actually presented them to the client. That was neat. They're going to look over the designs and choose the winner later this week. Umm...what else...Oh last night at bible study me, Amie, and Papa Gardner spent the whole evening talking about why Spring Sing is a good thing (that was a very interesting and informative conversation, actually). And I found out that Dr. Edwards (the program director and one of my teachers from HUG) had a stroke last week! Apparently they announced it in chapel but I wasn't there, so I just now heard about it. He's at Freed Hardeman now, but we were his last group as the HUG director. He had a minor stroke or something, but he's doing better.

So I guess that's all. Happy March! :)
