Riddle Me This

There are no lies,
And no truths,
Only shades of gray.

Courage isn't always following
The straight and narrow,
But the road not taken.

In more ways than one,
Justice and love
Are permanently blind.

Curiouser,
And curiouser
Are the shades of gray.

A Storm Brews On My Horizon

Though the clouds are gathering,
You still have time
Before the downpour.

Saffron streaks across
An ebony and sapphire canvas.
Please come inside.

All is not lost,
Yet.
Do not get caught in the rain.

The wind is rushing through the dogwoods,
Ruffling blossoms and scattering petals to the ground.
You can make it ahead of the storm

The wind is whispering over abandoned dreams
Still more sighing
Over love's letters lost forever.

The shower begins,
Teardrops cascading down my face,
And pooling in my pillow.

Please come inside.
Don't get caught in the rain.
Forever.

Floating Still

Calmer tides
Are turning everywhere.

Yet seeing love mirrored in the eyes of so many
And reflected constantly in their actions,
Makes me wonder how it feels to dive in heart before head.
Should I test the waters?

To know someone inside-out, outside-in,
And everywhere in between.
Needing, not despite flaws, but because of them.
Adrift in this tumultuous current,

I keep holding my breath,
For solid ground will never compare.

Sweet Nothing

There are so many superlatives,
In what we do not say.

Knowing smiles.
Candid glances,
Words are not so telling.

Love is on your lips,
But a lie is in your eyes.

Whisper it away,
Make me forget,
The reason violets are blue.
