    Operations

    January 6th, 2004

  • Finally! My Hernia Operation! I went to the ER on the night of the 4th and was admitted to the hospital for abdominal pain. They called my bowel surgeons and they cae to see me in my room. They said I needed to have this surgery done, so I was like Yeah, lets do it!! y surgeon said he could do it the next day, the 7th. I was in so much pain, but worst of all I was on a ventilator when I came around. Pushing my intestines back into my boy actually pushes up on y diaphram and affected my breathing. But I only had it in for bout 16 hours while I was awake. They took away a big huge scar and gave me a tummy tuck, too lol.

  • Getting my Medi-Port! This surgery was to make my life alot easier. I was put on Azathioprine (Imuran), which is an immune system depressant. When you are on this drug you need weekly blood tests to make sure you aren't getting too much of the drug. Since I have such bad veins for blood draws, and very poor IV access, most of my doctors and nurses wanted me to get a medi-port put in. So my Family doctor found a surgeon that did this kind of surgery. I went and seen him and we scheduled the date of my surgery for November 3rd. The surgery wasn't that bad. They made a 2 inch incision below my left collar bone. It healed up nicely.

  • I had my feeding tube pulled out because it was so badly infected, plus it was leaking food from around the insertion area. The doctors had me on steroids, so I was having an appetite now.

  • This is operation #2 of the same day. The second operation I had a large peri-rectal Abscess drained and flushed out, again. The same peri-rectal abscess I had irrigted before.

  • This day I had 2 operations done. This one I had my feeding tube placed. I only had the first half of the operation done this day. I'll explain in the detailed story about what happened.

  • Today I was taken to the Operating Room to drain and irrigate my peri-rectal abscess. Joy Joy.

  • I had a sphincterotomy done on my Liver Bile Duct. The Bile Duct going into my liver was blocked off at the sphincter muscle, where a group of muscles control the opening of the bile duct, and the flow of bile in and out of my liver and pancreas. The opening was abnormal, and way too small. To correct it, the surgeons made several long incisions around the duct opening, cutting through all the muscles. I had alot of pain after this operation. ALOT.

  • I had my Ileostomy reversal!!! I recovered pretty fast from the surgery. 2 days after being home I was put back in the hospital for 1 day for dehydration. I'm doing alot better now. I'm glad I don't have to change bags anymore! I am going to need another surgery in the future to properly fix my hernia since the surgeon wasn't able to do it this time because there were a few complications.

    February 19, 2001

  • Had my gallbladder removed, and got another 7 inch cut. They could not perform it laprascopically. The surgeon said that I had adhesions, and when he got to my gallbladder there was alot of inflammation around it.

    December 19, 2000

  • Emergency surgery to create my ileostomy after my bowel came apart and started leaking bowel contents through my incision. I was cut open on the same place as I was cut Dec 5. The surgeon had to leave my incision open because of the infection. After the surgery I developed a liver abscess and a fistula along with a 108 temperature and I almost died from it. I had 3 drainage tubes placed in my abdomen.

    December 5, 2000

  • Bowel resection, and removal of my appendix with an 8 inch cut straight up and down through my abdomen. 35 staples to close me up!
