Samantha's Bible
Many of you can probably remember getting a little New Testament from the Gideons when you were in elementary school.
Well, one of our kids had one laying around the house...Samantha found it, and claimed it as her own.
Many times, when I am reading, she will get her little Bible, sit...or lie down beside me, and open it up...as if she has decided to do some reading also.
A few weeks ago, Tina and I went to the supermarket to pick up a few things. Whenever we go out, Samantha always has to take a little toy with her. On this occasion, she decided to take her little Bible.
As we were going down the last aisle...heading for the check-out, Samantha tapped me on the side of the leg and said, "Here Dad!"...she had torn a page of her Bible, and was holding it out for me to take
I took the page, and asked her to give me her Bible...I planned to simply stick it back into the middle of her little New Testament, and tell her I had fixed it. Samantha reluctantly handed me her little Bible, but, when I tried to stick the page back in, she jerked the whole thing away from me, pulled the page back out, and said, "No, Here!", and handed the single page back to me.
To keep her from making a scene, I took the page she offered, pulled out my wallet, folded the page up, and slipped it in behind one of her pictures...in that picture thing - all good wallets have.
Later that night, while getting ready for bed, I placed my wallet on the night-stand. While setting my alarm clock, I thought of Samantha and her little Bible. I reached for my wallet, and took out the page she had handed me...the one from her little Bible. As I looked down at the page, I read these words, "Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." Eph. 6:11
I have heard some say that their children look like little angels when they are asleep. As I looked over to the spot where Samantha lay sleeping, I could not help but decide that Sam, in my eyes, looks, pretty much, like an angel...all the time!
