School's Out For Daddy's Baby

Tina always tells Samantha that she is "Mommy's big girl", while I, on the other hand, tell her she is "Daddy's baby!" From this, Samantha has gotten into the habit of looking at Tina, while pointing to herself, and saying, "Mommy's big girl"...then looking at me and saying, "Daddy's baby".

Tina goes into great detail with Sam, about how she doesn't like babies because they pee and poop in their diapers, drink nasty bottles, and, in general, are not fun to have around. Samantha wil look at Tina, after having listened to her dissertation about babies, and announce that she is "Mommy's big girl". I, on the other hand, tell Samantha that she is "Daddy's Baby!" Samantha is always careful to tell me that she does not pee or poop in her diaper, wears "big girl" panties, doesn't drink from a bottle, but is still "Daddy's Baby".

Every night, Tina makes it a point to get all of Samantha's things together for the following day of school. She will talk to Samantha, telling her that, tomorrow, Sam is going to school to play with her friends. She tells Sam that she will drop her off at school, come home, clean the house, and pick her up when school is over. Whenever Sam tells Tina that she doesn't want to go to school, Tina informs her that she is a big girl...and big girls go to school.

My job is to get Sam to take a bath, then tell her we are going "nite nite"...cause, Daddy has to go to work, and Sammy has to go to school. On Friday nights, I tell her school is out for "Daddy's Baby".

A few days ago, I came home from work, poured myself a cup of coffee, and sat down at the kitchen table. As usual, Samantha was in high spirits...glad to see Daddy, and anxious to talk. Before I could ask Tina about her day, Samantha announced..."SCHOOL'S OUT DADDY'S BABY!"

Apparently, the previous night, while trying to get Sam to go to sleep, I must have given her the idea that school would be out for her the following day...You must understand that before Samantha goes to sleep, she must tell everyone on the planet, including her favorite movies, good night. Then, we discuss everything that is going to take place the following day. This helps Samantha set the routine of the day in her mind. No matter how long the process takes, it must be done completely before she is able to lay down and go to sleep.

Somewhere, in the fog of repeated good nights, and laying out the events of the day to follow, she must have stated "School's out Daddy's baby!"...to which I must have sleepily replied, "Uh Huh, now, go to sleep Sam!"

Needless to say, once the seed had been planted, it had become a towering oak by morning. When Tina tried to get Sam ready for school, Sam calmly told her that school was out for "Daddy's Baby!" By the time I got home from work, it had already been established that, although Samantha is "Mommy's Big Girl", "Daddy's Baby" RULES!
