Q: Is the first time always more special?
"I think so. It really probably hasn't sunk in yet, probably not until I get up there. But it's an exciting time, something I can remember and tell my kids about for the rest of my life."
Q: Is it more sweet because you could've/should've gone in the past?
I don't know, with the way the All-Star game works, sometimes you have no control no matter what you do. Just like this year, somebody's going to be having a great year and they're not gonna make so that really didn't bother me too much in the past, but it's always nice to get voted in by the people that watch you play every day. And the guys on the team, come up to you on the team and congratulate, I think that probably means more to me than anything, it shows that they understand that I'm helping this team win a little bit."
Q: When did you realistically see this is a possibility?
"Probably last week. You never know with the voting what could happen, so it's hard to predict if you'll make it or not, but once you get close and people start congratulating you before it happens, you try not to get too excited about it and now that's it's a definite, I guess I can kind of be a little happy about it."
Q: How did you find out?
"My father-in-law in Phoenix called me about 2 o'clock eastern time, he found it on the internet at work and he saw it on there, so that's how I found out in the hotel room."

"Me and Jeff are up the middle and it's been awhile since some tandem's done that so that's always nice. Our PR guys says that's the first time we've had three starters - hopefully we all do well and enjoy ourselves."
Last time he was at an All-Star game was 1993 in Florida State League. He probably won't video tape it though. He'd rather have a photo of a few key people because, I have a video of my wedding that I've never watched and a video of the last game at Candlestick Park that I've never watched."
