Supplementary Regulations

This rally is held under the General Competition Rules and the Rally Regulations of the Canadian Association of Rallysport (CARS), and the current Rally regulations of the CARS RallyWest Region.

Maximum number of entries is 40. 

There will be a starting order draw on May 1, 2002 at the registrar’s home.  All entries received after this point will be assessed a late entry fee and assigned numbers in order received.

Timing:

All timing controls will be timed to the second and scored to the fifteenth of a minute.

Maximum Permitted Earliness: 10 minutes per leg
Maximum Permitted Lateness: 20 minutes per leg

Penalties:

20 points per minute early or late at a time control (1 point per 3 seconds).

60 points for failing to record a route control.

600 points maximum penalty at any time control.

600 points for missing a time control.

Up to 600 points may be assessed for incorrect control procedures, unsportsmanlike behavior or failing to observer a Quiet Zone.

Disqualification is automatic if a competitor receives a moving violation during the event.

Awards:

Plaques for 1st to 3rd overall and 1st novice, door prizes, more tba.

Eligibility:

All vehicles and crews must comply with Sections 3.1 through 3.10 of the Regional Rally Regulations.

Competitors must ensure that their vehicles are in safe and road worthy condition and have:

- Seatbelts for both members of the crew (as required by section 3.6.)

- At least one reflecting warning triangle (NO flares are permitted.)

The above will be deemed sufficient to comply with section 3.6 although the inclusion of a First Aid Kit and a Fire Extinguisher is strongly recommended.

Classes:

Experienced: Any crew in which either member has completed five or more regional navigational events before the beginning of the current competition year.

Novice: Any crew in which neither member has completed five or more regional navigational events before the beginning of the current competition year.

Novice crews are also eligible for overall awards.

 


Route Priorities:

Where no instruction is given, the competitor shall continue on the road that they have been traveling as defined by the following priorities and order of precedence:

  1. Follow Directional Arrows
  2. Follow Same Road Surface (paved, gravel)
  3. Follow numbered or named highway.
  4. Continue straight ahead, or as nearly straight ahead as possible.
  5. In all other cases clarifying instructions will be given.

 

Ties:

Ties will be broken by “furthest - cleanest,” or will otherwise stand.

Fuel Stops:

Fuel stops will be no more than 200 km apart.

Misc:

Controls placed within 100 meters of their official distances shall be deemed in their correct positions.  Control marshals and observation crews shall be judges of fact.

 

A due time for “Car 0” will be provided in the route book for the start of all Legs. Each competitors due time out will be the “Car 0” time plus their car number.  Time penalties will be calculated at each control relative to the previous control or “perfect time” if at first control after start of a leg.

The Competitive Sections will be linked together by Transit Sections (or elapsed time sections) in which the only type of control possible will be route, or passage, controls.
