Welcome to the Hinckley Search Society Website

The Hinckley Search Society is a club for people who search for historical objects with the aid of metal detectors. The club was formed in 1980 with objectives of increasing the members enjoyment of their hobby, encouraging the responsible use of metal detectors and helping the community in a positive way. We are based in south west Leicestershire, England.

The Club offers a free 'Search for lost items' service to anyone who requests it. Our members are indebted to their many friends in the farming community who allow the club to search their land. Without them the club could not exist. Access to land is never made without prior permission of the land owner on each and every occasion.

Club detecting outings (known as digs) are held on Sunday mornings once or twice a month throughout the year. At the end of each dig all of the finds are displayed for the farmer's inspection and attending members. If present, the farmer is invited to judge the best artifact and coin found on the day, or alternatively a vote of the members is taken.

The Hinckley Search Society meet on the first Tuesday of every month at Westfield Community Centre in Hinckley. Currently there is a waiting list to become a detecting member but it is possible to become a non-detecting member at a reduced subscription that allows you to attend meetings etc. Please contact the Secretary for further information.
