lang5.jpgThe first beach that I visited with special fond memories which I won't disclose here. It made me fell in love with the sea, and is also the start of my next few beach-crazy-trips over the next few years, including those that are located in southern Thailand as well.

lang6.jpgLike many islands, a few beaches spread over the whole place and my personal favourites are Pantai Cenang, Pantai Tengah and Tanjong Rhu. We visited the beach of Tanjong Rhu during the evening when it was low tide. We could simply walked out of the sea and seemed as if we could even reached the nearby islands. Some people were picking shells and it seemed that some were even edible. The sunset was stunning and we just stayed there to enjoy the cool evening breeze. It was sad that we had to leave once the sky turned dark.

lang1.jpg Roam about the island and make sure you visit the Black Sand Beach, where the sand underneath is as black as soot. We had a great time showing off our artistic talents, drawing on the beach, as if it was a huge blackboard! Nic then presented her best friend with the best souvenir on the beach.

lang3.jpgWe also visied the Seven-Steps Waterfall, after a tedious climb up a hill, made more accessible for tourists on stone steps. There are already a few locals dipping in the chilly water when we arrived. Of course we followed suit. We had a great time enjoying ourselves on the "natural slides" of slippery rocks. No wonder it's called the Seven-Steps Waterfall. However, please note that sliding down a waterfall was not the way to get down the hill.

lang7.jpgAlthough it might be quite hot during the day, the night was usally chiily and the sunset along the beaches were usually spectacular. They're different as compared to the ones viewed on mountain tops but nonetheless as captivating and memorable as well. Even after I came back 2 weeks later, the sunset I saw during the last night on the island was still fresh on my mind.

lang2.jpgBesides sun tanning on the beach, there are so many other things to do there. On my first trip there, I visited the highest point of the island where it was possible to get a bird's eye view of the whole island. If I remembered correctly, there seemed to be a tea house on top where we could have a sip before coming down. Don't forget island hopping as well. Some resorts actually offer a discount for it if you stay at their place. It is also possible to rent a car or motorcycle on the island. We did that on my second trip there with my friend Eleen and Nic.
