SS=Sidestep   Sidestep is a separate program that helps players connect to play a game of Magic using MTGIE. Sometimes the WotC server is not able to connect players so this program comes in handy.

Download Sidestep To use, rename the extension to .exe - DO NOT UNZIP

Instructions for using Sidestep

a) After downloading the program, find where you saved Sidestep and run it.
b) Click in the first field called 'Your Magic Encyclopedia Handle' and enter your username.
c) When two players want to connect: one is the Host and the other is the Joiner.
d) Host provides the Joiner with his/her computer's IP address. The Host can find the IP address in Sidestep's top right field 'Your IP'.
(Joiner does not need to provide his/her address.) (Note: IP address listed could be incorrect if you are using Network Address Translation)
e) Host begins hosting the game by pressing the 'PLAY!' button. (Note: the box 'You are joining to them' on left side should be UNCHECKED).
f) Joiner enters the IP address of the host in the field called 'IP of person you are playing with.'
g) Joiner checks the box 'You are joining to them' and presses 'PLAY!' (Host must have already pressed 'PLAY!')
h) Both players should be connected shortly - up to 15 seconds. If it hangs or fails, try again.
