I have viewed the table interface on 2 screens over a LAN and have seen what happens on your screen and your opponent's. Below are some tips that will help players manipulate cards and avoid confusion while playing.
Online Table Interface
Tip 1: Keep a "Player's Hand" window visible. Double-click the black area of your "Player's Hand" window. A larger window appears. Drag the window to the bottom right side to keep it out of the way. This larger window displays up to 9 cards without having to scroll up/down through the card list.
Tip 2: Keep the "View Card" window visible in the top left corner. If you have high enough resolution set for your screen, you can keep the small card view open. (Keeping this window open seems to also use up some computer resources.)
Tip 3: View your "Removed from Game" and "Temp" stacks by right-clicking the table interface and use "Toggle View." You can do this for your own stacks and your opponent's. To view your opponent's stacks, right-click in his/her play area.
Tip 4: Move cards across the screen in increments. You may know where cards are moving to, but your opponent has to figure out what cards are coming into play, going to graveyard, going to hand, etc. If you use "Move Selected Card Here..." or other options to move cards to library or graveyard, the cards automatically jump to their new location. Avoid confusion by dragging cards manually to their new location. Click-and-drag the card in steps because your opponent will only be able to see the card each time after the card is released.
Tip 5: Put cards closer to the center and right part of the table. It's easier to keep track of cards if they are closer together. And it will be easier for your opponent to keep the "View Card" window open if desired.
Tip 6: Click-and-drag your opponent's territory to make viewing adjustments. If your opponent likes to keep cards higher or lower on their screen, you can adjust the viewable area so you can see all of their cards.
Tip 7: Right-click the "+/-" symbols to make large adjustments to your life. I personally only use this to set my life to 20, when starting a new game. To avoid confusion on how much damage is being taken, it is easier to view adjustments in life as they tick down in the messaging window (using the "-" symbol).
Tip 8: To keep track of used cards, leave a graveyard window visible for yourself and your opponent. Double-click the graveyards to reveal Graveyard Windows. To prevent obstructing the view of the table, drag the windows over to the right side so only the left side of the window is viewable. You will be able to see the Card Title and see the cards as they are discarded to the graveyard. This is especially helpful when playing a "Recurring Nightmare" or "Nether Shadow/Ashen Ghoul" deck.
Tip 9: To reveal a random card to your opponent, there are two options:
A) Set your play hand to "Show Top X Play Items - Face Up," and then use the "Select Random Card" option. A message appears with the random card selected. Afterwards, set your play hand back to "Show Top X Play Items - Only to Player."
B) Instead of possibly revealing your entire hand to your opponent, use the "Discard a Random Card" function. Then put the card back into your hand from the graveyard. Make sure your opponent knows you are doing this.
Tip 10: Learn to navigate through multiple windows.
MTGIE does not have resize or minimize buttons. Learn to navigate with shortcut keys.
a) Hold the <Alt> key and press <Tab> multiple times to cycle to the window you want. Press once to switch back to the previously-viewed window.
b) Use WindowsD or WindowsM key to get to the desktop.
c) If you have a mouse with programmable buttons, set a button to "Recall" previous window or "Show desktop."
